Just a warning, don't goto any Halo 2 related sites if you care about avoiding spoilers. It seems like a pretty big spoiler was leaked, through screenshots(so avoid those too) and now there is a mass of posts about it.

I wouldn't mind the spoilers since i'm not a huuuuuuge Halo fan, although I do like the game. Got any links?

EDITED - I think I was breaking forum rules...

I'm looking at the screenshots now and i dont see any big spoiler. Only a new form of enemy and some basic plot outlines

halo sucks.......the first reason it sucks is because it's a xbox exclusive game, the second one, there aren't much gameplay after shooting running and shooting again and running again...ok drive some vechicles, but the driving get bored fast and while playing single mode in the pc version, they don't let u to be gunner on the car.....

That has to be the worst forum webpage layout I have ever seen. Either that or it's screwed up in firefox.

Yeah I'm getting shitty fps in it.

I updated drivers and lowered aa and af but no luck...

help?

?
Someone post a direct link to this spoiler, or please PM me, i want to see it

Foxie Trotie.....

I looked around all the big Halo sites I know and can only find one piece of new info you could possibly be talking about. Are you talking about the
flying covenent called "drones" that'll supposedly snipe you from the air?
If that's what you're referring to.....well, it really isn't that much of a spoiler. Just a new enemy.

Can you provide a proper link to what it is you're talking about?

EDIT: Do you mean the
other Spartans that you'll be fighting alongside? Fred, Will, and India?
Please enlighten me! I'm a sucker for new Halo 2 info.

That's quite a spoiler - but then it shoudn't be much of a suprise if you think about it.

PM Me, I'm a Halo fan, but I dont really care about Halo 2 spoiler.

wait a sec....how can you spoil an already crap game??????

this all been changed in Halo 2

crap for you but not for me :)

also the number of Halo1,2 fans is slightly less than HL2 number of fans. This is a huge game, you should reconsider your judgment.

Good God why does this kind of drivel ALWAYS have to invade Halo 2 threads?

Okay, you prematurely hate a hotly anticipated, unreleased game that you haven't played. You're cool. We know. Bye.

I want to see the screens - pm me someone?

I'm sorry you don't have an xbox so you can join us all in a few games of Halo.

i wouldnt want to waste my time. i have halo for the pc, but played it once and never again. all the hype was rubbish..as is the game...and i cant see what was so good about it. sequels are generally worse than the originals. and yes, i dont think hl2 will be as good as hl.

I think you and I played different games.

I guess. HL1 was fun. The immersion of the game made it stand out...but the gameplay fell short for me. My favorite part of the game was definitely when you first start fighting marines...you go up that elevator and there's an osprey dropping troops while your're being blown away by mortars er whatever. Beyond that I didn't find the gameplay all that great. The AI was easy to fight against once you got the hang of it...and I really didn't like Xen.

You can condense any shooter this way.

Halo (Xbox) is good because of the challenge it offers and the skill/practise required to master it. It was average on the pc (mouse and keyboard making the game too easy and borking the balance)

Challenge doesn't seem to be high a high priority for many 'pc only' gamers (immersion being the bigger attraction), which could possibly explain why most pc shooters are very easy. No single player pc shooter challenges me nearly as much as Halo.

Seeing as this is the one feature that makes the game great, it's understandable why many don't like it. Just accept that ppl want different things from a video game, and leave it at that :)

no soz i forgot it was crap.......

lol, i couldnt care less about the graphics and physics, to me its just another selling point. hl was amazing as it was ORIGINAL and not a typical shooting gallery type game that we were used to. hl2 is just hl all over again, but with the latest tech.

So Halo was great because of the controls that made it hard? Isn't that a bad thing? ....

I thought Halo was cool because the guns had a nice feeling when you were shooting stuff, which was basically the only thing you ever did.

Warbie, you can go on and on about challenge all you want.. but the only reason it was challenging was the bad controls. HL on PS was a lot harder.. but I didn't make it better.

If you like having these restrictions put on you in the name of difficulty, then good for you.

Oh and Gorgon, I would bet Halo 2 has many more fans than HL2, but I doubt they are as dedicated. :)

Perhaps - it's certainly less easy using a joypad than a mouse and keyboard (but easy doesn't = better, just different). Many of the best FPS i've played would be rubbish with a mouse and keyboard (Golden Eye, Perfect Dark, Timesplitters etc)

It's still possible to be very accurate and skilled with a joypad ...... and in a way, it can be more satisfying than when using a mouse and keyboard. Add how poor using a keyboard to move is (in terms of immersion and precise, non-clunky, control) and how great trigger butons and rumble can be, and it's obvious why Halo is better on the XBox.

At the end of the day - Halo on the pc was easy, on the XBox it was very challenging and rewarding.

imo joypads are better for single player shooters (where immersion is the key) and m&k is more suited to multiplayer (where twitch reactions and precise control is the priority)

That's just bollox. Never was I fighting the controls in Halo, never did they restrict or frustrate.

The reason HL on the PS was poor was because the controls weren't well implemented. They are in Halo (and other titles like Golden Eye)

Yo Warbie, it seems like you and I are always fighting a losing battle in Halo 2 threads. We're just never gonna convince the haters that Halo was one of the greatest FPS games ever made. Most of the time they really just can't get past their blind hatred of everything XBOX. It seems so silly to limit yourself in that way.

The simple fact of the matter is Halo would not have recieved the kind of attention it got had it been a shitty game with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Which is what the anti-halo crowd makes it out to be. Well, at least you and I will be having fun on November 9th!

If you say so. I have never played Halo on the box. But I have played Goldeneye and while it utilized the gamepad effectively, I still would have much rather had the mouse and keyboard. Would it have made it easier? Yeah, but I don't like being crippled. I guess you do.

DarkStar, I hope you aren't refering to me. I have acknowledged in the past that Halo is a well made game. But to me, the gameplay was merely adequate.

No, I wasn't refering to you at all Fox. At least you give well-written, thoughtful reasons as to why you don't think Halo is all that great. I'm talking about the morons who come on here who have never even played the game on XBOX. The ones who hate Halo for the sake of hating it, (i.e. not you).

You just had to slip that last bit in ;) It's not being crippled, far from it :/

GoldenEye would have suffered greatly had it utilised a mouse and keyboard (so much so that, rather than being one of the most popular and respected video games ever made, it would have vanished without recognition - imo). A monkey could have run about on 007 and completed the game in a few hours.

Is it always good to be able to aim and hit your target very easily??? While necessary for online games, some single player shooters (especially slow paced ones), can really suffer from mouse control (when getting a headshot is as tricky as opening a folder in windows).

Can you accept than some games benefit by making aiming take a little longer, and a little tougher? (as it is in real life) Getting headshots in CS or RTCW/ET feels good - but getting a decent headshot in GE is far more satisfying :)

Well, I've never been a big fan of slowpaced games to begin with. If Goldeneye had of been a PC game, it obviously would have been designed differently to cater to the M&K. Would this have hurt it? Possibly, but nothing is certain.

I believe there are better ways to make it hard to hit your target. Your target should duck for cover and move around like a player would.

I've never said that certain games don't benefit from the lack of precise aiming. That said, I don't think it is fair to praise Halo for something that is a restriction on any game where you use a gamepad. Sure, I could use a gamepad for Half-Life if I desired, but I never would.

I think when analyzing the brilliance(or lack thereof) of Halo, the content of the game itself must be looked at, not the inherent abilities of the platform.

Maybe - but when a control system makes the difference betwen a great game, and an average one, it's worth taking into consideration.

I agree with what you said, though. There should be other ways of making a target harder to hit. Unfortunately, when using a mouse and keyboard the only way to achieve this is by making movement super quick (otherwise it's too easy) This is why RTCW/ET/Q3/UT work so well online - and the slower paced games don't :/

(GE on the PC - you should be arrested for thought crime for suggesting that :))

Which brings me nicely onto HL2 - I believe it will be a great game, but like the original, I doubt the fighting will be worthy of note. Point and click - you're dead ;)

please be quiet. not another hl2 or h2 thread. Both good games. end it.

now let's talk about those spoilers...
