From what the books tell us, The Covenant are in search of evidence related to the forerunner. Apparently the forerunner are ancestors of the Covenant...
As far as the reclaimer, I think Guilty Spark is confusing him for someone else. But what really matters is this; There are mores Halos. In Halo 2 you will be visiting another Halo, and encounter 343 Guilty Spark, again...and apparently there are more Halos; Bungie has already said there will be a Halo 3.

BTW: I liked Guilty Spark. I found him to be comical and intruiging.

It was in an old OXM Magazine. (Or something else.) You should be able to find the scans at HBO

I have every issue of OXM anbd a I promise you that it isn't in there. I would really wish you give me a direct link into the "info" you have.

I noticed that HBO has a very large rumors and speculation area.... perhaps that where you read it?

No, it was in one of those Magazines. Maybe it was XBN...I'm really not sure. I know that I read it, though. It was the one where they had the little 2d Master Chiefs and Elites duking it out in the streets. (The magazines own demonstration of how the game could be...) It was also the one that talked about the enemy AI, nad how Elites could climb up pillars and hangs from ledges, etc.
