You can take your Halo hate and stick it - this is going to be very cool :afro:

Zomg, three elites are about to ambush the Chief! RUN FOR IT!

Gay. It would've made more sense if other players were marine and captain johnson.

except they'd be rubbish and die horribly every 2 seconds.

Awwww. When I read this I was hoping MC would meed up with some of the remaining Spartans :( Looks like Bungie will probably continue to ignore the great plot and characters of the books.

You play as MC and Elites!? F*cking stupid.

Halo 3 still looks like crap.

We get some amazing news and queue moaning from HL2.net. Who'd of thunk it? :)

Come on guys - decent 2 player co-op is rare enough, but 4 player, online!

Haze has the same thing. But Haze looks better. Oh, and they built the game from the groun up working for 4 player co-op.

am I the only one who read the books and went, 'Meh'?

Haze does look fandabbydozey though.

I'm certainly hyped about Haze, just more so about co-op in Halo 3. Free Radical are a decent company, and I enjoyed TimeSplitters in multiplyer, but the series has always been very average single player/co-op - each game playing like a slightly crappy Golden Eye. My hopes are they get it right this time - everything looks great so far - but Halo co-op has been consistently awesome from the very begining.

If there's a fps that plays better with 2 people then i've yet to find it - and now we get 4. Man the warthogs!

Haze has to prove itself first anyway, where as we know that Bungie is capable at co-op and multiplayer already. Sounds awesome to me!

I hope this means the levels are going to be bigger and more open, as opposed to simple linear stuff that we've seen before. More Assault on the Control Room, please. :)

Me too. The open levels in Halo were easily the best.

Aliens and humans battling together? aren`t they like, sworn enemies? or is it something to do with Halo 3`s story?
Anyway, Haze?

Halo 2's, actually.

I've a soft spot for Elites (greatest fps adversary imo) and loved playing the Arbiter - infact that was the only thing I really liked about Halo 2.

Um....woo. Now Bungie can you tell us about the ****ing campaign and not how many people are in it?!

The impressions from the press seem to suggest that Halo 3 kinda combines the really wide open stuff from Halo with the tighter combat in Halo 2, which sounds like a good combo to me.
Edit: And Bungie IS talking about the campaign now. (Or rather, showing it) http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3161662

I don't really want to play as the Elites/Arbiter to be honest. It makes sense because they have sheilds, but I think the marines are fething badass, and I prefer the human weapons.

EDIT: Just read the 1up preview. Cool, didn't know that was out.

Is it me or the aliens (enemies) don`t look very scary or menacing (Quake series, beginning from 2)? I mean, the alien weapons are kinda childish looking. They were in Halo 1 and 2 at least.

I would like the whole game, series to be a bit darker, grittier like HL2 was supposed to be. Maybe then I`d get a 360.

Co-op is always good.

EDIT: Just checked out Haze. Looks like that game is gonna be a killer.

I agree, some [if not most] of the Covenant do look very stereotypical sci-fi alien. I don't know much about their religious backstory or whatever it was, but I know they excell themselves in honor and pride, so that speaks for their armour/equipment. The aliens themselves... well, I dunno. They've never bothered me though.

Oh right so they are talking about the campaign then. More exciting than 4 player co-op I think.

I never saw the hype with Halo, multi-player was good fun but even that got stale after a while. I've seen some Halo 3 gameplay sessions on xleague TV and whilst it looks interesting, I can never understand the whole 'OMG BEST GAEM EVAR!!' obsession.

Same here, it`s like UT/Quake 3, but looks more colorful and just more "happy".
The only reason I can think of is that Halo 2 was the first and only good multiplayer game for 360. I quess X-box Live supported the shit out of it, leaving other games behind (if there are/were any).
Don`t have 360 so I dunno about the Live support thing.

I'll admit, Halo is the best FPS for consoles, but really, that's like saying, "This is the best tasting shit EVER!"

**** you microsoft and give the pc versions coop.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery :)

Too bad it's only for online play.

There's up to four controllers that can be hooked up per system, so why can't they do it for those who don't have Live? What if there's three or four people in the room and they all want to play the game? Why does it always have to be a multi-player deathmatch to get everyone to play at the same time? Having to swap controllers all the time just to go through a Legendary campaign is not fun.

If they're going to go through with 4-player co-op, why not go all the way?

Despite all my complaints against Halo, I have to say they did coop very well. But... I don't want to play an Elite.

wow, that is a large draw distance. If thats ingame thats pretty impressive.

oh, and coop, yay.

Because it means you'll either get hit when your 360 explodes trying to render that, or you'll see a Halo 3 with relatively ugly graphics.

Gameplay over Graphics.

I wouldn't mind if they had to scale the graphics back a bit to make it possible. It is a $400 machine though, you'd think it would be able to handle 4 players on screen at the same time.

It wouldn't be four players on screen though, it would be four screens. meaning a 360 having to do four times of the work most of the time. It could of course be toned down to handle that, but theres gotta be a line somewhere for where the payoff really is worth it.

Aye. 4 lots of Halo running would bring most pcs to their knees. The 360 would explode!
