well bungie and rare may be the only ones who have pulled off a 'true winner' how many have done it on pc ? valve, epic and id ? like with alot of console fps, they may be good (timesplitters or farcry on pc) but not quite amazing (like farcry, in comparison to hl2 or whatever).Sparta said:Again, only Bungie and Rare have really pulled it off well enough. Except maybe the guys behind Timesplitters but they really just copied the style of GoldenEye and then had their own little take on level design. So i guess them too.
while, if it was that holds alot more water but it still may not be a true representation of their philosophy.Sparta said:I think it was actually a lead game designer that said that.
first time i played hl2 i was basically completely oblivious to the story (well, i paid attention, just not that 'extra' bit i normally do for games i like), second time i played through it i paid [alot more] attention.. what i'm trying to say, it's all relative, it just depends on how much you 'get into it' while playing the game.Sparta said:But thats all outside the game itself. Other FPS games have been able to capture the same amount of depth still within the game itself. Not to the extent of Ilovebees.com and the books, but everything other than that, definitely. Have you ever played System Shock 2? Thats got more storyline in it than most of the Halo universe. The way the captain slowly turns insane is utterly fantastic.
i remember having played system shock years ago but sadly, i was never 'into it' and i wish i was, but hey, bio shock is on the way.
