"April 28, 2006 - With Microsoft, the rumors are always true. The next iteration in Bungie Studios' Halo series will appear at E3 2006 in video form at its Tuesday, May 9 news conference, IGN learned today from independent sources who recently spoke with Microsoft executives. The video is allegedly two minutes long, although its contents weren't divulged. We're guessing...

Neat! E3 videos are always exciting and I'm looking forward to this game. Heck, I'm still looking forward to Halo 2 on the PC. :rolling:

Cool. Hoping they show us real ingame footage rather than pre-rendered stuff though.

Damn it, when is Halo2 supposed to come out for the PC anyways?

The thought of Halo 3 over Live makes me feel all warm inside - it's going to be crazy :)

Hopefully the single player game will be more like the original.

Remember the old E3 Halo 2 video? Man, the hype for me is going to start all over again. Hooray. :D

If they pull another Halo 2-like marketing strategy I'm gonna kick someone's ass. This better be in-game footage (not in-engine), I honestly don;t care how unrefined it is at this point. Also, none of this bullshit where they show us Earth and then take us to another Halo. Seriously, show me the game, don;t show me lies.

I won't get my hopes up. The few things they managed to get right in Halo succeeded in becoming worse in Halo 2, and where they went wrong in Halo became right in Halo 2. Or something like that.
Either way, I hope they churn out something great singleplayer wise - couldn't give a crap about multiplayer. And I agree with Iracus.

"Earth will never the same...."....when the Covenant arrive with a small force of ships not knowing it was our homeworld, great!

I want full ****ing battles on Earth. Matter of fact, since it is called Halo and we'll most likely have to visit one, it'd better only be one. Like, the final one. I want my Earth battles dammit. I want what was promised to me all those years ago!

Ultra-fast paced objective style killing spree with some large number of AI NPCs each player can command to fight in an all-out onslaught of senses. Machine guns blaring, explosions everywhere, insane vehicles with crazy amounts of hitpoints, rockets which can take out these vehicles in only a few hits and fire as fast as a machine gun, lasers which slice through players, melee weapons with crazy large physics forces and knock ragdolls back multiple feet into the air for that epic scale. A chaotic fight with some freaky techno music. Symbolism with easily differentiated forces like in Lord of the Rings, we can easily see the muddy, gritty black and red colors of Mordor which contrast the shining silver, white, and blue of the Human forces. Dragons, dinosaurs, spaceships, aliens, rag-tag bunch of humans Terminator-style, god-like beings all culminating in a battle of the ages, everyone fighting each other, factions blurred, exhilarating battles with large open spaces for charging at each other. People shooting one thing only to have ten, hundreds more swarm at them. In-your-face then rip off your skin and feed it to you action. Strider battles in HL2 only with lots of giant alien T-rexes, Godzilla things that blast your ass to hell with a plasma beam, giant starships, bunches of raptors amubushing your ass in the grass, space orcs, normal orcs, Uruk-Hai, Neo-style powers, melee moves of awesome, Striders, giants, fire-breathing dragons with wings that flap and stuff, Jormungand-huge style Dune worm snake serpents, Power Ranger mega-zords, ninjas, pirates, vikings, knights, catapults, trebuchets, ballistae, crossbows, longbows with correct arc that shoot exploding plasma arrows. Hydras, mthical beasts, titanic-sized robots of war charging at each other picking off the rest of the enemies easy as cake. Utra-BFG-styled-weapons that are a thousand times more powerful than a normal BFG that can kill anything. Apocalyptic magic spells or energy bursts which can completely destroy all enemies in an area. Flying vehicle fights in a huge multiple mile long space arena which can then swoop down from the sky to decimate land forces. Sea vehicles that can launch a carpet of bombs at a land target. A gigantic war effort that blows any other game out of the damn water into space, down sucked into a black hole with all kinds of ass-kicking. Think Supreme Commander only with an FPS and a thousand times more scope and an extreme adrenaline pumping eye-poking adventure. Thousands of things happening a minute. Hundreds of tracers. Things that can turn the tide of a battle only to be cut down by minor weak low-level soldier. Tactics like rushing or camping can be both rewarding and retarded. Good and evil fight each other and then some other guys. Every single thing designed to be awesome. Like rock-paper-scissors except the rock is a giant blowing up volcano with thousands of hydrogen bomb thetan bastards, the scissor is a frickin laser beam supernova explosion, and the paper is a dyson sphere designed to encapsulate a solar system or a galaxy or something. Thousands of deaths in only one round, people dying left and right, medics healing 20+ people in a minute. Multiple BF2-scaled battles which are largely weak and insignificant and barely affect the total outcome. Pyrrrhic victories, circle around each other flank my ass, Rome: Total War something like that, different groups and playing styles for every game player, play poker to beat a guy with a rocket, tetris your alien ass. Strategy is the overall winner as each side is crappily balanced. An RTS management system with a commander, RPG stat gaining system, why take control of a wimpy little space station or plant one little bomb when you can take control of a hundred space stations and plant a nuke. Crazy, mother****ing-assraping-violating all your senses, shoot everything that moves, think before you ****ing go there or you'll be swamped by a thousand Warthogs and Banshees instead of like two, giant bullshit, crotch grabbing, atomic bomb, large scale battles, every single second is another adventure, you spawn camp, you get wiped out by hundreds of crazy troops, twitch gaming, camping in fricking cave and mowing down hundreds of forces before having to be bombed out, gain hundreds of levels and become a god, giant Citadel style structures, Minas Tirith, Battle of Pelennor Fields, rockets are more plentiful than bullets, space ships whizzing above your heads, customizble classes, hundreds of giant colliding forces, bullet hoses, things that just kill in one hit, a normal player can't even be distinguished froma damn hacker because of all the crazy shit, huge war-torn ambushes, Save that damn Private Ryan and then blast all the Nazis to hell, Independence Day alien spaceship dog fights, **** you all, things that have superpowers, ****ing ****ton of ****ing shit mega ultra super awesome blow out your minds asskicking awesome to the ****ton infinite degree plus ****.

It's going to blow.

Never cared about Halo in the least. Played it when at the xbox release event in NYC when I worked it at launch and it struk me as lousy compared to what I had been playing at the time. Seemed just boring.

I also don't think it will sell as many units as Halo2 since not half as many people have 360s or will at the time of the game's launch. Still, it will really help to sell the systems....

I'm wondering if they'll manage to make it a solid game this time around for SP and MP. I want to play SP but if MP is anything like Halo 2's then count me out.

Can't say I care...Halo 2 was such a big let down that I can't trust any of the media they release

Yay, another Halo sequel consisting of average singleplayer and multiplayer that console junkies die over despite the fact the original was better. :dozey:

Halo 2 had far better MP than Halo 1. Halo 1 had a far better SP than Halo 2.

Halo is good, but not great.

It deserves to be mentioned, but I'm sick and tired of people who must constantly tell me how great it is. It's not like I pimp anything I play on the same daily basis.

Hell, I never bothered finishing the second one. I just lost interest about halfway through. Well, we'll see how this one looks.

Yes becuase looks define gameplay. Come on dev's do something creative and fun for once.

I meant "looks" in a generic sense. Like, "Oh, looks fun!" or "Well, that just looks freaking boring."

Well Trailers always tend to deceive you in as many ways as they possibly can.

Oh, I know. I was excited when I saw the trailers for Halo 2. Then when I got the game I was bored out of my mind. Maybe I should give the MP another shot though...

Halo is a good game and fun to play, it's just that it's nothing groundbreaking gameplay-wise. I understand people getting annoyed when it's nominated for all these game of the year award type things when there are a lot of games out there that deserve to be mentioned more.

No way.

Halo 1's MP was based on skill and wasn't completely noobified. In Halo 2 90% of the game is determined by who has the good weapons or who started spraying bullets first.

Before it took some skill in aiming to snipe and get headshots, now it's so auto-aim friendly you can simply swipe across the screen and pull the trigger when your aimer turns red and you get the kill...

It gets so much attention becuase MS can afford to advertise a lot. Spamming casual users with a limited range of games will result in them being the only ones purchased. One of the main reasons why independant dev's have such a hard time.

Wait, wait, wait isn't that what console First Person Shooters are all about?

Perhaps you remember the Halo pistol? That didn't take skill. You didn't even need the scope.

Only the mainstreamed titles. Halo 1 actually took skill to aim and get the coveted "3-shot kill" with the pistol. Sniping over long distances was actually tough too due to slight bullet delay, same went for any other gun.

I see. I'm only aware of how things worked in the PC version.

Man, I loved the Assault Rifle in Halo. And the pistol. And the single shot BR in the E3 trailer looked pretty nice.

:(

Still, I enjoyed both Halo games. I still do, actually. Halo 2 on Live is a bit hit and miss for me. Sometimes I love it, like playing a big 8 v 8 game of CTF on Coagulation, but other times, when its 4 v 4 Plasma Punchout or Ninja Plasma Rocket Face or something it just sucks.

Nothing beats custom games like Zombies and Tremors, though. :D

Wrong. Vista is pushing PC Gaming so much its insane. I trust microsoft is going to do what they said they are. Just read about the features and how its pushing Pc gaming not only with dx10 but with features vista will ship with. Its insane.

I hope the single player for Halo 3 is MUCH better than Halo 2's. I literally felt bored all the way through the single player of Halo 2 (you know that feeling inside your gut/chest, like emptiness when you're bored... yeh that feeling :p)... and the ending... how gay!

Halo 1 was ace... all they needed was online COOP.

You needed the scope at longer ranges. The main reason Halo 1 is a skill game and is quite balanced weapon-wise is this:

Everybody has the pistol at the start. The pistol is like the ruler from which a player's skill is measured. It's a nice all-purpose weapon. You can fight across long distances with the scope and can hold its own in close quarters. There's other weapons that hold the pistol in check though. The sniper rifle can outdo the pistol in long ranges or with speed in very close ranges. The shotgun will rip apart the pistol at very close range as well or even a good Assault Rifle player can beat a pistol player with a quick burst and a melee attack.

I found Halo 1 to be very balanced online too. You could even take out a tank with the pistol if you got the guy in the head. It was very balanced come to think of it.

I might reinstall! :D

Take out a tank with the pistol + headshot?! I'll have to try that. I just played it on Legendary and some of the levels were the hardest and most enjoyable I've ever played in a FPS. Halo 2 looked good in the previews, but sounds like a letdown storywise, which, really, is what I'm after.
...will the E3 demo of Halo 3 show DirectX10 features?
