Take out a tank with the pistol + headshot?!
Yup, you can take out the driver with a headshot. :)
That's why you see people camping in tanks facing bacwards :p

I seriously hope they somehow pull a brilliant strategy that essentially consists of Bungie admitting that Halo 2 was a letdown, and releasing Halo 3 with a SP campaign that not only completes the main story arc, but also includes an overhauled Halo 2 campaign to boot, recreating the story entirely from scratch, and returning to the MP goodness that was Halo 1, minus the Equalizer and Assault Rifle.

Bah take your negativity elsewhere, fellas.

I for one am looking forward to this Halo 3, with an open mind.

Halo 3 SP better be long too. Like at the very least, it better take me 25 hours. I want something epic, like Halo 2 promised to be.

Don't say that! Then Bungie will make 5 hours and copy-paste it 5 times!

Under the right conditions, bungie can make really good games- marathon and marathon 2 were great back in the day, and halo 1 was good despite its flaws. However, microsoft will probably find a way to screw them over.

Like they're screwing us to get vista just to play it on pc.
I dont really see why it cant be on xp if it was on xbox, if they want
to vamp it up then they could just make it enhanced on vista or something...
yet still make it xp compatible.

DX10 is Vista-only.

umm, for those asking for long (> 15 hours) sp campaigns, there was a recent article on gamespy interviewing different people about [us] 'hardcore gamers' .. what i'm trying to say is, don't expect long sp unless you know they're capable of doing it, and doing it well, like with bioware, valve & other developers.

i'm sure bungie could do it fine, but i would say one of the large markets for halo 1/2 are just 'casual' gamers or even teens who play alot, but nowhere near as much as we do.

i'm excited anyway & i more or less ignore everything [media wise] for videogames, unless it's in the form of a REAL gameplay video, preferably with a hud and so on, just like what WE'D see.

thing which got me is they hyped me up so much about halo 2, with the trailers, ilovebees.com all the way through summer, yet when i got it i thought is this it, i hope i dont have the same feeling for halo 3 although i see it coming

I dont see whats wrong with halo 2 on dx 9
I explained in another thread why Halo2 with DX10 was the best choice for this.

To make a long story short, DX10 acts more like a console by removing CapBits in cards (no matter what, if your card is DX10 compatible then it will run any DX10 fine, it's just that now that price is dependent on performance... This is a lot less work for programmers since you don't have to specifically code for a HUGE variety of cards like they do for DX9)

It also removes the GDI+ so that now programs speak directly to DirectX and that goes directly to the screen.. Not game -> GDI -> DirectX -> GDI -> Screen

Basically technically they _could_ put it on DX9 but that most likely would mean

1) It would be in development for another 6-12 months due to them having to write portions of the code for DX9 and also they need to specifically code for each type of card (as of now, just if a card is DX9 compatible means it runs DX9 apps, but the feature set is widely varied)
2) More compatibility problems... There would bound to be a problem with someone with a card out there that wouldn't be able to run a game
3) Worse performance due to the GDI+ being the middle-man
4) Don't get to take advantage of the new Vista Games Explorer, Performance Enhancer, etc etc... Obviously this is a good thing to have a mainstream game sort of show other game developers how the Games Explorer will work and if it will be successful or not.

*Edit* Can't wait for Halo3 I forgot to say :D I really can't wait :) However, I really don't want them to do an ilovebees.com campaign, because those don't interest me at all...

The thought of Halo 3 over Live makes me feel all warm inside - it's going to be crazy :)

Hopefully the single player game will be more like the original.

YES! YES! Sweet lord yes.....

I knew I wasn't the only one who liked Halo 1's single player stuff better than Halo 2's.

I'm gonna start pondering now...what year Halo 3 will come out for pc...2009?
