Halo 3

I wonder how shit one must feel as a game dev when you know people only bought your game in order to play in the Halo 3 beta. Like someone wiping their ass off with your paintings o.o
Well if it makes anyone feel better, I wouldn't have bought Crackdown if I hadn't heard good things about it. The Halo 3 beta is just icing TBH.

Just the thought of Halp SP with uber gfx and a high res has me excited.

Whatever your opinions of the original Halo are, it's hard to argue that certain parts of some levels weren't staggeringly awesome, especially for it's time. I remember on a snow level, forget its name, running from an interior into a large outdoor area right into a large covenant vs marine fire fight. Lazers flying everywhere, vehicles driving/hovering around, people getting killed. It was like being in Starship troopers. Even today i've yet to play a fps that attempts something this, let alone do it so well. More of the same but on a larger scale (imagine multiples of tanks and aircraft and explosions everywhere) would be awesome.

I agree with everything here except for the starship troopers part. Didn't feel like that at all, but it certainly kicked ass.

Shame that Halo 2 sucked.

Bungie can still redeem themselves with Halo 3 though, so good luck to them.

Halo was awesome, albeit a bit repetitive in the end. The silent cartographer and the level after it were pure win.

Oh, uh, I didn't get in the halo 3 beta. shit.

I lol'd

Well, at least the game sold.

The Crackdown advertisements on TV were pretty bad. It's like they got some spanish guy who seems like he doesn't actually speak spanish to act tough and hispanic. And it didn't make sense and it was quite stupid tbh. And the graphics didn't look good on the Commerical. I got the impression that it was some kind of saints row wannabe that was lacking in every way.

Plus, it's Halo 3. Who cares about Crackdown. :p

Crackdown is great fun in co-op. If anything the beta allowed many people to thoroughly enjoy a decent game that otherwise they would have missed.

Everyone wins here.

I concur with Crackdown. It was a blast to play, and I still enjoy it.

There isn't a halo 3 thread because people don't care enough to even start a "I hate halo" thread.

Incorrect; they just leech onto the already going Halo threads. Funnily enough, your in a Halo thread now!

lol, true to an extent. Some of us are just annoyed by halo fanboys & that it's way overhyped. If someone likes halo, that's cool, what's important is that you have fun. Halo 1's multiplayer was a simple thing to get a group of friends together and blast away....but having played counterstrike and other Multiplayer FPS's, it always felt inferior.

Just enjoy, don't bother comparing it to other games. That's not the point. If we all went around thinking like that we'd never have fun. I still enjoy Goldeneye even though there are far better games, I just don't let it come across my mind - too busy having fun.

Fair enough. But you have to realise that so far, nobody who's posted in this thread could be considered a "Halo fanboy". We all seem to have things we like and things we don't like about the series. I, for one, do think it's overhyped, and I also think that Halo 2 was inferior to Halo CE in almost every way possible, minus Xbox Live and sheer density of multiplayer content. So there's no need to get annoyed with us, we're simply excited for, and a little wary of, Halo 3 :p

Yeah, exactly. I look at all the people who, on here, are commonly the people that enjoy Halo (Stig, Warbie, Amish, myself, others, I apologise) and none of us are constant ''ZOMG HALO BEST EVA1111 HL2 SUKS'' it's more ''Halo? Yeah, good fun... Halo 2 was a bit of a let down, though'' All the HL2 comparisons usually come from others, so that's a lil' backwards, eh? ;)

Know what I'm sayinnnn'?

Halo is the greatest game ever and Halo 2 was even better. In fact Halo 2 is without question the greatest game ever created. Halo 2 single player was ten times better than HL there wasn't anything repetitive about it. And Bungie just simply owns Valve! /end sarcasm here

But for real tho Halo was a great game Halo 2 was crap and I hope Halo 3 is at least better than 2. And Im gonna have to agree about crackdown it is a really fun game plus we get in the Halo 3 beta! Speaking of that doesn't it start soon?

The beta starts in exactly one week, give or take 12 hours. And I'm hearing that there's going to be some Halo 3-related news coming out today. Can anyone back me up on this?

Stigmata, I thought it was supposed to be on the 11th, cause thats when Bungies "family and friends' get a special beta.

Anyways, I bought Crackdown too, but not for the beta (the game rocks tbh, especially co-op). I will be participating in the Halo 3 beta though, so any HL2.net members wanna add me, go ahead.

Gamertag: Wanted B0B (caps count and that is a zero)

EDIT:
I'll old YOU *shakes fist*

That somehow just made my day. Siggy quoted.

Hmm... you're probably right, especially seeing as how there's been no update, and it's 10PM Eastern :p

Crackdown is awesome, but it seems like it might be a little short. I've already found 120 of the 500 Agility orbs. Then again, I'm still on the first island, and I've only found 20-odd hidden orbs, and I haven't tried co-op yet. Awesome game, nonetheless.

And as a thanks for sigging me, I added you to my Friends list. Now to get Xbox Live working through Internet Connection Sharing...

New stuff: you can access some stat pages for Halo 3 internal beta players.

MrJukes seems to be a good choice for a start. You can click around between games played, and then mouseover player names to get a quick rundown of their score, medals won, and which weapon they had the most kills with.

Have you seen MrJukes 'Betalicious' video? I'm just downloading it now. 77mb on the Bungie site.

so a copy of crackdown is a sure spot in the beta, correct?

And when is the beta being released, wednesday?

Aye Crackdown gets you in, just make sure on the box it has the sticker saying Halo 3 beta. They're still around, I saw loads last week. I think I've ?30 worth of old games, so I think I might pick it up tomorrow. Although I don't actually have a 360 atm. Borked. :(

I know it's next week sometime, not sure on the exact date. Gonna be crazy downloading it.

Yeah that personal grav lift looks awesome. Gonna be fantastic getting vehicles up in the air like that. Imagine the gameplay with those though now? Two runners go forward with grav jumpers, they put them down and then two quad bikes (two guys on each) rush forward, leap the wall and then wham! You've got 4 guys in the heart of the base with the element of blitzkreig!

Need to buy Crackdown tomorrow. NEED. Gotta call UPS tomorrow, too, to get them to pick my bastard machine up.

Just been watching that live feed for a good 20 minutes now. Good stuff! What I've gathered (that I, personally, didn't know so sorry if it's been confirmed for a while

Everyone is alot weaker now
Turrets can be picked up and used
Theres some form of third-person rocket weapon, that isn't a rocket launcher, more of rocket-Brute shoot, as opposed to the Brute shot being a grenade launcher... of sorts
That mortar weapon at the back of high ground that was said to do something... well, doesn't seem to do anything. That, or the guys playing never looked into it
Spiker looks awful and looks like it's going to feel and sound underpowered

Played some old school Halo online, damn I really want to use those rocket launchers though.

I'm just thinking now, actually, is this going to be worth getting? I'm going to Turkey on the 25th, and my 360 hasn't been sent off yet. I'm arranging for it to be picked up on Monday, and if it comes back in 4 or 5 days like a few peoples have, that'd be awesome as I'd then have the working days of the next week then a week after I get back. But if it doesn't come back within 5 days, and it comes back the day before I go away, that gives me a weeks play time when I get back.

?30 for possibly a week and abits playtime? Hmmmm.

Crackdown is a good game. It'd probably be worth it.

I got Crackdown today so I should be online on Wednesday. As I said, my 360 won't be getting picked up til Monday but I'm taking my HDD to my mates to download it off his better connection then I'll play it around his.

Looks like I'll be missing it. I have to send the 360 in to Microf*ck. How long should it be gone?

They say within 15 working days, but alot of people have said 4 to 5 days. I hope mine comes back around Friday/Sat. If before, even better, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Yours might be back by Friday. MS is pretty awesome about quick repairs and returns, I got mine back within 3 business days a month and a half after launch. So at most you'll miss like 4 or 5 days of the beta, if that.

I'm concerned about sending mine in. I've had problems with specific games, and I've tried pretty much everything I can think of (with multiple disks, hard drives, no live connection etc.) but the "support" insists its nothing, so would they just send it back and charge me?(My warrenty ran out, and I was 15 days away from being able to send it back as a 2005 xbox :()

Sorry for going off-topic.

What kind of error are you getting? I've had the 4 red lights a few times which usually mean a plug is a bit lose, and that's been sorted, but a few weeks ago I got the 3 red lights which is a hardwae failure. Mine's leaving tomorrow.

Tough break on your warranty, that's a perfect example of Sod's Law for you, that is.

No lights. The games video freezes, then a few seconds later the audio cuts out (its really odd, cause I can chat in those moments with only frozen video).

And I was a little unfair to "support", they didnt say nothing was wrong, they just refused to ANSWER the question.

1st time (Woman): "Go to xbox.com/games for the latest news on games"

2nd time (Max): "I cant understand what you are saying"

3rd time (Max): "I got nothing, check the support topic online"

Im worried mainly cause I dont wanna spend $175 on a service that just sends the same xbox back to me.

Is buying crackdown the only way to get on the beta? , if so it's blatant extortion. I don't want crackdown.
