When I run Halo I get this dumb error:

"A problem occured initializing Direct3D. Hardware acceleration maybe disabled, please run DXDIAG."

I'm on a GeForce 3, AMD 2000+, 256 DDR RAM. Goddamn weird problems. Halo leaked worked on my comp. I've already gone to the microsoft site, they have displayed some crap remedies, THAT DONT WORK!

Right click on the shortcut, properties, and select one of the hardware compatability modes. I need to run mine as Win98/Me to get past that error.

did u install the latest drivers? e.g. detonator 50.x? and the latest dx? (dumb questions , i know..." but sometimes it helps ;) ) it's funny that you have to emulate a crappy os in order to play a m$ game onm a newer windooze os.

Why? When Halo was intended to be out, Windows 98 was top of the line, its not that surprising, considering its technological crappyness on average (both Windows and Halo, hehe).

wow.... thats cold.... halo is a great game, XP just has sum "security" issues to work out

halo runs sweat as glass on my comp(maybe more like a roughly sanded bloack of wood) and it works on my crappy laptop too, which runs xp, and it deosn't even have a real graphics card!

There are all kinds of command line parameters you can add to force halo to run. To just get it to run, add '-safemode' (no quotes) to the shortcut target.

Thanks dawdler. I change the compatibility mode to Win98/ME and it worked.

Your welcome :)

Cold? I thought Halo was quite a good game at first too, relativly fast for what it was doing... Then I played Max Payne 2. I havent done it, but I know its still playable at 1600x1200 with 6xFSAA and 16xAF (50+ fps). Now try that with Halo. And compare scene complexity while you are at it.
