Halo Wars

Q: Where does “Halo Wars” take place in the Halo timeline?
A: “Halo Wars” takes place before Halo 1 during the UNSC’s first deadly encounters with the Covenant.

Makes sense why all the Spartans are there, they all died at the start of Halo 1

Aw, its too bad I don't care about the Halo universe one bit--I might actually be looking forward to this if that were the case! Ensemble do good good work!

Q: Is the trailer pre-rendered?
A: Yes, and it's based around our world concepts and uses lots of in-game models. The sound and music were done at Ensemble Studios as well. Props to our friends at Blur for bringing it all together and making it really shine.

Lawl pwnt

The trailer was indeed shit. But the game sounds like it could be pulled off.

I still think they should change the name, as Halo Wars takes place before Halo itself comes into play.

Master chief rush :O (or a grunt rush if your playing as the covenant :P That'd be fun. They better have there stupid little remarks and bad english in there too >_>)

...stupid.

Halo might make a good RTS world, but NOT in the way the AOE development team would be planning on doing it.(remember the Star Wars RTS fiasco they pulled off?) This game should not be made...unless of course it ends up having good taste, good style, and a devotion to gameplay rather than the brand.

but that will not happen.

I have faith that they will do it right... We'll see though if they do an AoE game with Halo units though!

Nice completely judging a game before any details whatsoever or screenshots or gameplay videos have been released.

An RTS exclusive to xbox360?

Fail.

Thats the only thing about it that bothers me D: Battle For middle earth 2 is supposed to work great on the 360, but I still think I'd be alot more comfortable with a mouse :x

If the industry wants to innovate by putting genres on different platforms, let them! Don't hinder innovation in the industry!

I'm glad it's exclusive to the 360 myself for the above reason... I hope they change everyone's mindset that an RTS can't work amazing on a console.

what's so innovative about putting the industry's most popular FPS into a clone of the industry's most popular RTS?

I predict a complete flop, another Age of Empires clone.

EDIT: x360 only? even worse!

I'm not talking about the story and characters they put behind it (though I hope they do something innovative with the actual gameplay).

I'm talking about innovation of putting an RTS on a console and making it work nicely. Sure some of us may prefer mouse/keyboard or whatever, but that's because it's what we've used in the past. If people can find a great combination of controls that work for RTS' on consoles, then we should see more RTS' come out (that would hopefully be multi-platform) because publishers will see RTS' of less of a risk.

I mean lets be honest, how many brand new IP RTS' do we have coming out nowadays? I'm not talking sequels or expansions, but two that pop into my mind are Company of Heroes and Supreme Commander (both have some nice innovations on gameplay, especially SupCom if they can pull it off).

So sure you could have the gut reaction of "Ew, consoles!" but come on, give it a chance because they just may pull it off... Unless you have played the game, nobody should be giving the game crap for it's platform or controls of a gamepad.

Anyone else think 'Halo Wars' is a dumb name?

@6Three: Halo wars dose sound stupid, Imagine if Valve did the same thing for the 7 hour war…Half Life wars!!! Though Valve are smarter than that.

Fail.
Agreed

Agreed. I'm sure it has some marketing perspective to it, I imagine that just having the word 'Halo' in the title would boost sales. The Halo bunch aren't the smartest kids in the world.

RTS on a console thats not a Nintendo Wii = fail.

Yeah, RTS's would work brilliantly on the Wii, just hope some company will catch onto the idea.

I have no interest in this game whatsoever, considering Dawn of War has filled my Sci-fi RTS craving for quite a while, and shall do for much longer (Dark Crusade ftw).
