Halo2

A GameCube + a game is $150. If you look you can get an XBox/PS2 for less than $150 (they retail for $180).
Most consoles have a "platinum hits" or "classics" line of earlier games for that system that are around $20 a piece (quite a few good games in that selection, too).

PS2, XBox, and Game Cube all support online gaming.
PS2 and XBox play DVDs.
XBox can copy music CDs to its hard drive to listen to while playing certain games or from the dashboard.

... but they don't need those features to sell them. They aren't meant to be all-in-one machines. They are bought by people that want to play games... the other features are just icing on the cake. If you just want to play a few great games... a console is a better buy than a high-end computer. A lot of people don't care about the other things computers can do (I am not in that category). Some people pay $2000 for a computer that they just play games and talk to friends on... for these people a cheap (the price of a console) computer and a console would be better.

Plus, if you never try consoles you are missing out on some great games.

EDIT: Also try Half.com when you want to find a low price on video games, consoles, DVDs, etc...

xboxes are 300$ canadian here, stupid microsoft being cheapass to us!!!

Halo was alot of fun, but in the later maps/levels it got VERY repetitive and boring. It was really fun in Co-op mode with friends~

I know Halo 2 will be 10x better, it already looks great by the trailer... but I think Halo 2 will be murdered my Half-life 2....

ok, im gonna go to all the newbiest doom3 forums i know of and tell them you guys are dissing doom3 and to please come here and "politley" sort you out. Sound good?

IMO, the srouce engine is little more than a physics demo. It seems that they just built a engine and a game around another teams physics engine. Source doesnt look all that special(visually) even when compared to other engines that are out right now. The only thing that sets it apart is the physics engine made by a third party.

*gets ready to flame*
*remembers Mr. Reak's advice*

Eh poor Kopa. Let it go man. You know very well that facts will not change opinion of a fanboy. Same here.. try to make argument Doom III vs HL2 and you will get so much bias crap. So if I were you, I would just forget about that post. I mean, in the end, they will miss a lot of fun.
*smiles*

yup, they cost around $150 US dollars now, but not before.. which brings us back to Ridic's arguement of not worth spending over $150 for a console..

another thing.. is that some games are exclusive to certain consoles (can u say "gg Halo" ??) theres no such thing like this when it comes to pc's.. unless of course ur gonna refer to Mac's which are not meant for gaming anywho.. right now, i think this is the biggest thing going against consoles.. i know in the days of NES.. i become a Zelda fan. so now im having to pay $150 for a Game Cube, then another $150 for Xbox and another $150 for a PS2 exclusive game.. this is insane..

GG consoles! `nuff said!

dude different strokes is a dope show. used to watch that all the time when i was a kid....remember when Mr. T was on the show..hahaha

well the world don't move to the beat of just one drum, what might be right for you, may not be right for some...

If i want creepy ass uber graphics and good ole demon shootin fun i will get doom 3

If i want a long anticipated sequel, inoovative gameply, and kickass physics, i will get half life 2

If i want cool graphics, cool guns, new features, etc for an x box i don't have. I'd get halo 2

What is the big commotion?

Seriously, whenever someone goes "hl2 will pwn d3 cause of x and y and z!!!111" and then someone else goes "oh yeah will halo 2 will kick more ass because of a and b and c!!!" And then come the doom 3 fans and then the deus ex 2 fans and the VtM bloodlines fans and the max payne 2 fans, ad infinitum

lets let the cooler heads prevail, please

I have never played HALO, im not going to get an xbox because I dont like having two big ...bananas in my hands. Ill get HALO2 for pc though.

ok sorry to bump this back but i just needta talk

first of all, sorry, but i just can't let go. i just can't stand people not understanding my viewpoint. so i kept posting. and i'm gettin flamed for being a fanboy. someone over there said halo2 has an advantage because it uses all xbox's power, while half life 2 uses 5 year old technology, because the source engine was started 5 years ago.

*sigh* i just wanted to post that at a forum where the readers could laugh with me at this skewed logic, rather than at me for vocalizing flaws in the xbox.
