A couple of years ago I was missing the old days of sidescrollers, so after a little searching for some free games, I found Happyland Adventures! I admit it sounds a little bit... stupid, but the game is actually really enjoyable. You play a puppy that goes around collecting Happylanders and leading them to safe happy blue areas! :imu: The graphics and music are nice (they have a really happy version of Pachelbel's Canon in D).
So far, everyone I've shown it to before seemed to like it, so I figured I'd just toss it out here and see what y'all thought about it. Granted, I only showed it to 4 people, and one was bored, one was probably just humoring me, one was my sister, and the other was a comp sci major who was like, "This game is actually really awesome."
The only annoying thing about it was that there was no way to save your game so you always had to start over from the first level. Also, you can't pause and each level has a timer. Basically this means that to finish the game, you have to play through the whole thing without stopping
. To avoid this, I'd suggest playing the Christmas version, which at least has codes to start over at later levels. And you get to listen to happy Christmas music.
