I'm not sure at all where to put this thread, as it pertains to a new book and teaser trailer for the 6th film.

The 6th Potter film, The Half Blood Prince trailer is released:

Better quality versions can be found here: http://www.mugglenet.com/app/news/full_story/1787 For anybody not following the HP saga, this one is the "Snape kills Dumbledore" movie. There is also wolverines, understanding how Voldemort works and how to defeat him, zombies, the Sith from Star Wars, and there are also Nazi's. Now the Sith and Nazi's, are not stated in the series, but we all know that HP is based upon Nazi's with magical wands with the force. ;)

Anybody remember Beetle of The Bard though? Well now it will be available for everyone on December 4th! :D All proceeds go to a charity for both editions. Yet I'm more interested in what copy hl2.nett'ers will buy.

The Standard Edition goes for just $8. Here are the details:

Now the Collectors Edition is just absurd. They are asking for $100. What more can you expect from spending $92 more??!?!!!:
  • Outer case disguised as a wizarding textbook from the Hogwarts library
  • Exclusive reproduction of J.K. Rowling's handwritten introduction
  • 10 new illustrations by J.K. Rowling not included in the Standard Edition or the original handcrafted edition
  • Velvet bag embroidered with J.K. Rowling's signature
  • Metal skull, corners, and clasp
  • Replica gemstones
  • Emerald ribbon
  • Only 100,000 to be made.

I hate Harry Potter so much, you couldn't even believe.

The first 2 movies were good though, all after that are just stupid (wait, I think the 3rd was good too, that's the one with the werewolf guy right? That was the last good one).

Harry Potter's trying to be Dark and Mystic. But I just lol'd

Harry Potter is emo.

OMG I have a scar on my face, I'm special!

I don't get it, what is this book about. Some 16th century shit?

No, it's 5 fairy tales that fit into the universe of HP. Like for example some troll ripped his heart out and it turned all hairy and black because he was so evil. He just kept swapping hearts back and forth. Now that goes with Voldemort wanting to live forever. Read the previews on the site. Some are for the kids, some are not for kids obviously. Rowling basically said "screw the sissy fairy tales, I'm making smart ones and some that are scary". I'm going to pick the Collectors Edition and here is my reasoning:
  1. I will read these books to my kids some day.
  2. The CE are selling really fast. In fact, it's hitting the top of book sales very fast.
  3. I will always feel that "I should, coulda, woulda" thing.
  4. Welders get paid good.
  5. Great Christmas present.
  6. I'm donating to a good cause.
  7. It will be worth more in the future I firmly agree, especially the sad day that Rowling will pass away.
  8. The book is thick, and is made with quality. I'm getting what I pay for.
  9. I have paid more for shitty 1 semester course books that I didn't open when I went to college. Probably sell those to make up the money for this book.
Also get out of my thread you HP haters. Go read the books and don't go with the crowd. If you thought that the movies appeared to be fun to watch, but thought that the books must be better, then you will discover the treasure as I exactly did. Harry Potter I repeat, is not a child book. The media will always label it that way because of the first 2 movies.

I have no problem with the books. They're very well written and incredibly immersive. I never said I hated them and to face those who did with such aggression is not going to get you anywhere.

The movies, on the other hand, I have a problem with. Plus the paying 10p (or however much $100 is worth these days) for a collectors edition. J.K. has many times eluded to the fact she's a bitch. A very awesome writer bitch.

I liked the Harry Potter books, and at this point the story got very dark, but as i said, i liked it. I didn't love it, but my opinion is simply that, an opinion. I, personally won't buy the collectors edition, but I think the book will be a fun read, and that i too could read it to my kids some day. However, the Media just likes to label things, and the like to blow their own horn, if you know what I mean, so I think anybody with a brain will take whatever they say about something with a grain of salt until they do their own research.

Still, Harry Potter is a great read, and holds a true to life lesson over the course of the story. Love for others can make all the difference in the way one turns out. True to the old saying "His mommy didn't love him, and that's why he rapes little boys."

...okay, fine, maybe i made that up, but the "His mommy didn't love him, and thats why *blank does blank, or is blank*" is the saying I was talking abou-...

You know what, screw it. It's a good book. Thats all.

Heh I just read the fifth book a couple days ago. I have a general idea what happened in the sixth, but I managed to stay spoiler-free for the last book.

And I don't think I'll buy some collectors edition. i probably won't read the 6th or 6th for a couple months.

I think I'll avoid this thread now since I know one you is going to spoil it for me.

I didn't like the last two movies much, but I never liked the 4th and 5th book either. I did like the 6th book though so Ill probably end up seeing it.

As for that collectors edition holy shit. I have a friend whos probably already ordered the damn thing.

I love the Harry Potter books because I think they're well written and JK Rowling is an amzing author, I'm not a fan of the films. The acting is very poor for most of the characters, Daniel radcliffe should never have been chosen to play Harry. The writers have changed way too many things, the directing and editing is poor; the list of reasons of the bad things about the films just goes on and on. I've decided I'm not going to see the last few films because I'm terrified of how they'll ruin the story. I'll just stick to reading the books. I can't possibly find fault with them.

OMG I gots to have the most expensive onez!!!!!!!!

She completely overdid the last book, tried to make an epic climax but instead ended up completely ruining it.

I was so disappointed when I found out that
the entire Trio is still alive. I really wanted at least one of them to die.

Fucccccccckkkkkkkkk I hate Harry Potter.

I strolled in here hoping it would be like "DANIEL RADCLIFFE FOUND DEAD IN HOOKER'S APARTMENT", but this isn't exciting news at all!

I've heard JK has gave the thumbs up to a hot sex scene between Ron and Harry in this movie.

The books were good, but the films suck. A cripple could act better than Daniel Radcliffe, he's just some spoilt ****.

No, they'll label it as a children's book because the books were released straight to every retailer's Children's book section, and because the author is under no pretense that she is writing a book for anyone but children. I like Harry Potter, I really do, even as someone who has 'real' literature routinely shoved down their throat in the hope of getting a degree out of it all (or probably, ESPECIALLY because I usually have to read 'good' books), but if you honestly think that it's not a children's book, in the face of some pretty basic facts about its publication, that's just a little daft.

There are probably many, many fabulously pretentious examples of great acting by the physically impaired someone could give you, but I doubt there are many examples of good child acting, able or otherwise.

I agree. I remember when the press where all over him since he posed naked on a play. I must say that his manhood... sorry penis is very small.

I also like the first 2, the third was watchable. Never bothered with the other films... It just got really old really fast.

Not to mention the fact that all the places and creaturs in these stories supposedly are here but can't be seen by the rest of the world because they are hidden by teh magics. :dozey:

Harry Potter films were great when they were childish and innocent and fantastical.

Now they are dark gritty horrible pieces of shit. Good for Batman, not for Harry Potter.

My opinion.

haryy potter is getting gay and retarted and who would honestly pay $100 for a collectors edition?

JK is mediocre at best. Have you ever read another book?

Well it certainly captivated me. I have read other books, and to be honest, I got bored half way through Return of the King. If you didn't, then you really like scenery.

And the singing, don't forget the break-out-into-song-every-50-pages singing. I remember borrowing the first book from the library and someone had neatly sliced out all the songs with a utility knife.

Harry Potter is the most overrated book since Lord of the Rings. But then again, nothing is as overrated as Lord of the Rings.

Who is that?

Who are you?

How many threads have you posted this in? That's just spam.

On topic: I lost my faith in Harry Potter after J.K Rowling pulled the O LUK DUMBLDOR SHUD BE GAI BCUZ I SAYD SO.

Oh shit, I forgot there's only an either-or choice of liking 2 specific books.
