I kind of jumped out of my chair and my heart just started beating really heavy for a couple of seconds when I saw this.

Half-Life 2 shortcut icon. :bounce:

which would of-course make sense, considering css uses the HL2 engine :p

Well my first guess was that he photoshopped it. Clearly I see he didn't, but I couldn't know at first as I don't have the CS:S Beta. Really though, what is it?

I don't know really... just saw the icon and got really excited and more hyped about hl2. :bounce:

Why couldn't he have photochopped it? That would be amazingly simple to do. I'd use Corel Photopaint, cause that's what I know, but photoshop should do it handily.

It's not a photoshop, IIRC it is in the CS:S beta, it fooled me when I saw it first time too.. damn it :)

Yeah he could have but that actually IS the contents of the CSS folder, double clicking the icon generates an error message.

It's just the exe for cs:s iirc. When you do ctrl alt del when you have css on it shows the process as hl2.

Yup its in the CS:S folder. Maybe the video stress test is using that or something.

Ah you newbs :p I know how to bypass the error, I learned a naughty way though ;p

It's been there since before the video stress test (since last week Wed.). If you click on it it says "Unable to load filesystem_stdio.dll" so I'm guessing it isn't the exe for cs:s.

Lots of us need to take a step away from our computers and get outside if we are getting this excited over an icon that does nothing!

Although, that icon does kick ass. :D

not to brag or anything but ive had that icon for a while now. :) still cool though.

Actually during the press beta it used to load up a full and complete version of HL2.. But only for people with purple hair.

I don't get excited over icons... but a folder, now that's hot!

yea i saw that in the css folder as well! man i was so shocked!! i actually clicked it in hope to see something! man i AM that desperate for the game

I still think the best suprise would be a whiteboard pic with
"coming out a week from today" on it or something. hohoho

Dude, create a shortcut for HL2.exe

on the new shortcut rightclick and choose properties, enter at the end of the path -game -counterstrike. Or -game -console - cstrike or -game -cstrike. Let me know which one workd. if none worked then we need to do something else. Let me know the result thanks. ;)

Note: Put space between the original path line and the above functions.

so why is the icon there does it do nething apart from the error message?

The Half-Life 2 icon... I touched it... it gave me an error message!!!

I'LL NEVER DEFRAGMENT AGAIN!!

it requires steam to load a few dlls for it i can't seam to find the dll hl2 is looking for it very odd...maybe its a false error you know to stop hackers O_O

Remember guys, CS:S is a mod to HL2. We just don't have the levels and maps. bla bla bla for HL2 yet. However, it is the same EXE.
Of course, how do I know this. I really don't. I am just a stupid little boy that never grew up into my big boy pants.

Guys, it is the hl2.exe but it's only used to load CS:Source. In theory if we had all the files for hl2, that would load hl2. For now though, it's just used to load CS:Source into the engine.

it's not an icon, it's an application. you would know that if you weren't running winxp in "fluffy" mode.

turn "hide extensions of known file types" off for gods sake! and get rid of that stupid GUI style while you're at it. and to keep yourself on a roll, change view to "details".

i cant stand winxp default installation settings for the GUI

Mc Face, never a disgrace

What? Is that a compliment or an insult? I am confused :/

I liked the ryhming scheme though.

Anyone try executing "hl2.exe /?" to see if it returns a list of options. Maybe something juicy in there!?! :stare:

Tried all of them, none worked. I like having the icon on my desktop with Half-Life 2 under it :D

that hl2 icon can't play hl2 any more than the hl icon can in the cstrike folder.
not source the regular one.
