Mr. Newell, suggests there is a Easter Egg in one of the Video's
Has anyone figured it out what the Easter Egg is?

9) Metal Gear Solid 2 (and maybe 1 i dont recall) had name tags for dead people and those names were the names of some selected fans. Have you ever thought of doing something like this (incorporating fan names) into the game somehow? If so, can i be Dead Scientist # 42 ?

There will be some surprises in the games. There's at least one Easter egg in the videos that no one has noticed yet.

That guy has a good eye or he took his sweet time watching that video.

I know people have noticed this character standing way up on the planks or whatever they are in the tech demo vid, but I can't make out a face really. Someone check their videos and see if you can make out who it is. Looks like a generic scientist to me though. I think he's just there for comparison against the background or such.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this yet, but go to about 15:32. If you look in the bottom right corner, you'll see the Gamespy watermark. As for what significance this has to the actual game I have yet to learn.

Could be one of the devs, wait till we get high quality and enhance the face :p
 
I think there is some writing on the posters where you turn the Dicer on that chops the aliens. Need the High res version to read them though.
 
I think I figured it out, I looked at the transcript for the movie Kleiners_Lab, and noticed the first thing Kleiner says, is the exact thing he says in the first halflife at the beginning when they first perform the experiments and everything goes wrong. That has got to be it.


Kleiner: Just checking for potential modular interference in the interstices. Conditions could hardly be more ideal.

I just went through the wavs in the pak file of my 1998 copy of Half-Life 1. No one ever says that.

he says something about it looks like we wont be working together afterall, its in another thread, basically same thing he said in the first one if you refused his offer, start up the g-man vid in the bink player in advanced options at 5 frames a second without skipping any frames, he sounds freaky deaky

Uh, would it be in my No One Lives Forever 2 folder then? How would a Half-Life sound NOT be in a wav file?
 
Has anyone checked the equations flying around at the end when the g-man says "isn't this just like old times"?
They could have some kind of signifigance.
In fact, I remember reading a email somewhere where on of the guys from valve is wondering if anyone had worked out what they ment.
Or maybe I'm just imagining it. I'll go check it out now

Yes, the do have significance. Thats what Marc Laidlaw said in an email. According to some knowledgeable people it has something to do with 10 dimensions .. string theory maybe??

I doubt that is the Easter Egg though.

It's actually an "N", but it's stencilled, so it looks like an "X".

Oh my God. I can't believe how many people have asked that question. He said the same thing he said previously in English, "Pay attention Freeman, I'm only going to say this once." That's all he said, it's obvious because the presentor said out loud, "and he can say it just as easily in any other language". IT WAS THE SAME THING. I'm done.
 
Actually Lyrids, I'm not sure he does say that. I've heard that what he actually says is "Looks like we can no-longer continue our business arrangements Mr Freeman". Which would mean at some point in the game, the G-Man becomes an enemy, or atleast you are no-longer working for him.

Although I've really have no idea as i don't speak Chinese.
 
I was just watchin the lab vid looking for possible eggs and i noticed that Alyx is wearing a black mesa t-shirt. I wish i had one.

also, what is that wierd device next to the monitor that gets knocked off the table? it reminds me of the old HL particle hose gun, you know, the really powerful one that shoots the stream of particle energy. thats about all i picked up on in that vid though

just asked my dad (fluent in chinese) what that meant, and he said it meant "we have no chance of cooperation" - let the sleuthing begin :)

It's a Scanner.
 
This may have no significance but i noticed right before he knocks the monitor off the table that you can see a gun lying on the ground for a split second...this probably isnt the egg but i just thought it was cool.
 
Yeah I saw that gun thing too next to the monitor that gordon knocks down in the video.

Its an "n", even if it weren't, a spelling error would not be an easter egg.

maybe this is the map authors name???

I can't really make it out...but if someone knows who made the level then maybe they can make out the name???

...then again...maybe its just a bunch of numbers...

The box says '24132' or '24/32'. There might also be another 1 at the end.

the scanners that alyx refers to are outside the windows, the device im referring to is on the table next to the monitor that gets knocked over by gordon. It looks very much like the Gluon Gun from the original halflife. perhaps kleiner was the scientist that developed that weapon for gordon in the original halflife.
