Has anyone seen Clerks 2 yet??

I thought Dogma was a crock of shit. Is Clerks anything like that pile of masterbatory bollocks?

Dogma WAS overrated, I agree. And no, Clerks 1 AND 2 are totally different from just about anything Smith has done.

I didn't enjoy Dogma much either, and I'm a pretty big Kevin Smith fan. IMO it's definitely his worst movie, although I haven't seen Jersey Girl yet. Clerks, Clerks 2, and Chasing Amy are all amazing movies that I would recommend to almost anyone. Mallrats and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back are good for a few laughs as well.

What the hell. Mallrats is his worst movie ever. Chasing Amy and Dogma are his best. Blah blah opinions blah blah.

Though I'm contested to take down Dogma and put Clerks II next to Chasing Amy as his best work. Funny and a bit dramatic, just like the original Clerks.

Clerks 1 and 2 and Chasing Amy were Smith's best. I saw Dogma twice and didn't find it that funny. Mallrats and Jersey Girl WERE much worse though.

But heck, I even liked Strike Back, so maybe I just suck.

Haha, I have a friend who always wants to get out Mall Rats saying how incredibly funny it is.. so I'll hire out Mall Rats + Clerks, see how they are.

i saw clerks 2 earlier today, in my opinion it's the best Kevin Smith film yet.

also, i liked strike back :)

Thing with Dogma is it was all "I'll talk about religion in a pseudo-intellecual way.. and everyone will go.. WOW DEEP" Ugh.

I hated that film.

I don't think Kevin Smith made Dogma thinking he was going to be the next Nietzsche. It was more of a parody, if anything.

It was a satire, parody, and yes, a look at Catholicism and the idea of faith, belief, and dogma. I think it had great messages about religion. He goes into depth about it in "An Evening with Kevin Smith." I don't know how it could come off as pseudo-intellectual, its got a goddamn poo monster in it...

I've never seen An Evening with Kevin Smith, is it worth a rental?

And IS Kevin Smith religious? The ending of Dogma made me wonder if he could be..

Oh it's definitely worth it. The stories he tells are even more hilarious than his movies and you know, he gives good advice and talks about some of the things in his movies.

And yes, he's a practicing Catholic, but as evidenced by Dogma, he sees it differently than most Catholics.

I've never seen Clerks. -cue crickets-

But, I went out and rented it... planning on watching it in a few minutes.

I'm beginning to be a real Kevin Smith fan though, I loved Chasing Amy and Mallrats... Dogma not so much, it was still pretty funny though.

Clerks is best watched with friends who also haven't seen the flick, just so-ya-know.

Well Clerks 1 has just about the worst acting you will ever see in any movie in your life. That said, it's still awesome and I love it. Clerks 2 has some better acting, but the two main characters are basically just as shitty as they were at acting in the first one. F-cking badass movie though.

I didn't like Mallrats that much to be honest. Well, no, I enjoyed it, but I was expecting as everyone went on about it so much.

I'm still to see Clerks, mind.

Brian O'Halloran and Jeff Anderson are great actors dude, wtf?

yeah, i thought the acting was pretty good

I think O'Halloran and Anderson were the only real good actors in the first Clerks. Everyone else was kind of just...there. They've improved even more since then. Shame they don't get many movie roles.

It better be up to and including you.

Oh yeah, I saw Jersey Girl recently (the only Smith film I hadn't seen). It's a lot better than people make it out to be, pretty decent movie.

Saw Clerks 2 again tonight, some friends of mine hadn't seen it and we were bored, so yeah, we saw it! It was just as funny the second time.

great for middle school plays, sure. Take any single scene where dante and randall have a conversation about anything. Notably when they're driving around in the car on the way to work, but seriously any time they open their mouths to have a conversation. There are no pauses, there is no time for thought. The rhythm of the conversations is laughable, and their delivery sucks. Mostly, it was everyone else in the movie that made me laugh, Jay and Silent Bob, and Elias was probably the most brilliant character made in any movie in the past 10 years.

there he goes... homeboy ****ed a martian

my favorite moment of the entire movie was when rosario dawson came out the back door and slammed it on Jay for the second time, he screams, "WHAT THE ****!"... a little juvenile but I laughed for like fifteen minutes.

Also, this is a slightly disturbing clip I found when looking on google video for clerks 2 clips.

OH!

Would you **** me?

I'd **** me.

So **** me.

Yeah, I remember thinking in the trailers it was just a dumb gimmick sort of scene, but when he went on with the whole "I'd **** me" thing I knew what it was ;).

GOOOOODBYE HORRRSESSSS.

And I thought the Lord of the Rings rant from Randal was the best part, mainly because I feel the same way. And the dance scene, of course.

Actually, no, it's not >_<. At least he didn't tuck it in, though.

Yes, it is. It's an exact parody of the scene. Next scene, Jay's got his penis tucked in and his arms outstretched like Buffalo Bill.

I thought you meant the fat kid was from Silence of the Lambs. I didn't view the link at first, I just assumed that was what Ennui was talking about, and you did the same as me. In other words, I misread what you said ;)
