Have the leaked screenshots...

Hey, truthfully now guys. Have the leaked screenshots made you want the game even more? I know that most of you have downloaded the beta and played it... But for those of you who haven't. Did any leaked screenshots actually make you want the game even more?

I haven't downloaded the beta but couldn't resist looking at screenshots. And yeah, they looked great. So did the E3 demo. This game is for me still the most anticipated game ever and I want it really bad. I'll buy it no matter what or when it comes out. So no, the screens really didn't chang my opinion on HL2. They were merely confirming the great expectations.

The few screenshots I have seen have evidently been taken on lesser specced PC's because they've looked pretty poor/average to me, the textures look 'ehhh' and the models have looked less than stellar to be brutally frank..

A lot of stuff in them clearly needed more work.

I've come to the conclusion that I've only seen screenshots of stuff in the beta which isn't at its best because the video's showcased some stuff that looked much better.

On a more general note it made it pretty clear to me that the time for ever increasing polycounts and worlds of lightmapped polys and 'flat' or traditional texturework is pretty much worn to an end and what will define graphics in the future is the things you can do with those surfaces and shaders to give the impression of real substance.

Yeah... they made me want HL2 a bit more but only abit more cuz I already want it SO MUCH, damn those 1600*1200 shots are background material!

I won't lie. I've seen all the screens. I don't think theres anything wrong with that. Some game makers put out tons of screenshots for people to see, Valve doesnt really. Everyone knows that. So I saw this as my opportunity to see some new stuff. I didnt really think of them as spoilers either. Just previews. But some of them looked fantastic, definitely cranking my anticipation level up a notch.

feedbag: to answer your qotd in your sig...your site hosts illegal screens whereas hl2 arena doesn't...

also, hl2world is an ugly site, imo...hl2arena looks nice and organized

hl2world's red and yellow gordon face that says news on it is horribly ugly and distracting to the eye...i can't read the news post without staring at it.

I like to see as much as I can of a product before I spend my money on said product.

Yep, I too haven't downloaded the "beta" and never will. But I did take a glance at a few screenies and some of them were just... holy shite! Obviously some of them were taken on lower end systems, though, because they looked really quite average... but the ones taken with top notch systems... man! Sweet!

That's a great idea to have created threads for people who haven't dled the leaked files. Sometimes, reading posts about these files that we didn't use, we feel as if we were excluded from the HL2 community...

About the screenshots, I'm looking for them. But generally I'm disappointed about them... Nothing exciting... I'd prefer to see videos from the game, and above all using the physics engine.

I had a link to a leaked physics video but 1) I lost the link, and 2) can't post that kind of stuff here. Anyways, you shouldn't feel excluded, and people who download the leak shouldn't feel special in any way.

Yeah, spetially in this particular shot where by Gordon's pistol did not have any textures but the water effects were like nothing that i've ever seen.:bounce:

I have not seen the leaked screenshots, have not downloaded (willpower) the leaked demo, and no longer care about the game til it's finally released because these boards are full of morons that don't care about the game as much as I do. There are reasons we aren't supposed to see the game til it's done, and I feel it is the right thing to do and can hold off til it's finally released for I will be experiencing it the way it's meant to be played. nVidia had it right all along, only I prefer ATI

Anyone that mentions the leak, screens, links to such things, or anything about the way it plays or looks should be autobanned if this forum had any sense of loyality to Valve and their masterpiece to be.

I haven't downloaded the beta and never will, I havn't even looked at screenshots.... For doing so in my opinion is illegal.

I also believe in banning anyone who hosts screenshots and/or the beta itself. We here at halflife2.net have the upmost respect for Valve... and therefore we will not endorse in any way the illegal files.

i have seen beta screenshots at over 1024x768, and with fsaa and AF, i can tell you they DESTROY STALKER and DOOMIII,.....they just own the day.
