No I think it's just this release of a lot of the prejudices and saying "It's ok to be gay." Perhaps there are some people who would say that it's "cool" to be gay but the media takes the piss out of them and I think they're a bit of a minority.
Even so, the media does take the piss out of homosexuality by whoring out old stereotypes to the point where it's embarassing. So Graham Norton's main joke is: "Look at me! I'm gay! Get it? I'm gay!" And Queer Eye for the Straight Guy is insulting and I'm not even gay. And that program with that guy and his dog...

Those weren't what I was thinking of, and its certainly not a prejudice manifesting itself in me. Its difficult for me to explain really, but I suppose I would say that being gay is something "different" and people for some reason see someone gay on the TV as just being a good person because they were able to come out and stand up against the prejudice. Its different for women though, since I think its mostly women(Oh and "new men" :x) that see the gay man on TV as something special.

Ok, I sort of see what you mean, I think. Similar/comparable to, for example, if you called a disabled person a bastard and someone told you to go easy on him, totally and patronisingly ignoring the fact that it is possible to be both disabled and a bastard at the same time.
I honestly do think fair play for coming out, though. I imagine it's a very difficult thing to do.
