Have you ever had to throw down?

I hate fighting, but occasionally it's unavoidable. A few years ago, I went to a skateboarding camp, with a friend of mine (who happens to be gay). About halfway through the week, this complete bigot finds out and flips out. Calling him all sorts of awful names, threatening him, just in general being an awful person. My friend turned his back on him, and this shithead clocked him in the head as he was walking away. I was right nearby, and obviously I help my friends when they need it... anyway, long story short, I broke his face.

You did the right thing. Just one thing, what does "clocked" mean? Really hurting or just kinda hitting?

But sticking up your friends is a really repsectable act. Few people do that around here in sweden, we're cowards without civil courage, it's something that alot more people should keep in mind.

It means hitting veeery hard. Like, he wound up for quite a while before hitting him (hey, wound up- so THAT's where the term comes from!).

Used to get into a lot of problem when i was younger and ive even fought seriously with a few friends, last time was in the summer vacation on a LAN, we were messing around with each other pc and the linux server tru ssh, stuff like " (friend) says LOLOL BUTTSECH" and other things about being gay
We were opposite, right next to each other for a week long, and well we coudnt handle it anymore, the back of his pc was next to my monitor and mines next to his, so we ended up pulling all the cordes of our pcs out and sitting their flaming each other for a few hours, then we got in to a nasty fight almost falling over pcs and stuff and i just left with my pc
the saying sorry part is always very awkward

i avoid confrontation and get into the fetile position in the nearest corner or under a desk or something and just stay there

Well, I did go to a hoedown once.
What is that, something like a chick mud fight? :|

Anyway, I've never been in an actual fight, although I've had my share of being threatened :p

This one time, this (also happened to be arabian :p) guy was constantly taking my glue and my correction fluid, and then after 20 times of asking it back, he did. After about 8 times, I said (just for laughs) to him that he was an Arabian kleptomanic. He suddenly switches to "DESTROY ALL PEOPLE"-mode, and starts to call me names. I say "Relax, I was just joking."
He doesn't respond and keeps on flaming about. I try to calm him down (at this point half the class was looking at our direction) and he shouts "What? Do you want to fight or what?" and slaps me in the face (not hard at all, just to provoke me, so it seems I started the fight). I just try to keep calm and keep on saying it was a joke. Then he seems to calm down.

After class, he takes me by my jacket and pushes me against the wall. He bitches on about what happened in class and then headbutts me. At that time my adrenalin was exploding, and my hands were shaking like hell. A friend of his then takes him away to calm him down a bit.

Next week, I just apologized to him, just to steer away from trouble. He accepted it and since then we haven't had any problems. Too bad he's become this way, though. Since he had those friends that have zero morale and just try to make life for everyone but themselves miserable (you know, the kind that deserves a nice Jackhammer into their abdomen), he's become more and more like them.

Anyway, that's my story :p
Next time, if someone's going to threaten me, and there won't be anyone to stop him, I'll fear for my life and his, because I completely flip out when attacked. :|

I've hit three kids younger than me. Wouldn't call them fights as they didn't make an attempt to hit back and I only hit each of them once or twice. They lose the "hard man" attitude then shut up and leave you alone afterwards.

I've been in that situation. They even spat (sp? "to spit") once on one of my friends. He was so incredibly pissed, I had to keep him calm. If they did that again, him and me would have completely broken their spines.

I've wanted to a billion times but, frankly, I don't have the muscular advantage.

I used to fight quite a bit until 10th grade but I had to stop because then I was afraid I'd really hurt someone or potentially kill them if pissed enough. Almost had to a few times recently.

But at work, I fight a little here and there because I'm a bouncer - but usually the guys are just drunk morons who need to be shoved out the door.

P.S. We say "throw down" here too.

Man the last time I actually fought was like in 3rd grade..Ive had a couple close calls in recent years tho

A few years back my friends and I used to fight eachother with 3 fiberglass rods, and it would hurt like a bitch when you get hit. It was tons of fun (we'd actually try to hurt eachother to win, just didn't go for the head). Then my mom made us stop because she thought we'd put an eye out or something.

Never got in a real fight, except for that time in third grade in a crowded cafeteria when a kid was punching my brother. I got him in a full nelson from behind and slammed his face into some wooden steps. He ran away after that without even knowing who I was.

If somebody wants to fight me I just walk away. It's to much of a liability if you have a CCW license and carry. I mean if I was to struggle with someone and they moved up my shirt somehow they would see my pistol right at 4 o'clock on my hip. It would be a horrible situation if they were to grab it. I often carry a small can of pepper spray in case a situation like this arises that it is hard to get away without confrontation.

You can't use or even touch your pistol unless someone becomes a threat to your life or would cause you serious bodily harm if not stopped. So if someone pulls a knife on you it is considered using deadly force and you are then within your legal right to use deadly force back with your firearm. If someone wants to fight you though you have no legal right to even touch your firearm. Doing so would be considered use of deadly force and you could be prosecuted harshly for it.

I know a bunch of people in here will think I sound like a nut. Studies have shown that people with concealed carry permits are 5 times less likely to commit a violent crime then those that don't have a license in the US. It makes me a more passive person. In the past there are instances that I have lost my temper and used choice words with people (everyone has been there at some point), but ever since I got my CCW permit I am alot more cautious.

Damn, there was this one time when I got beat up..not really beat up ,but headbutted and a knee to the face.(He just randomly came up to me and did that) The fu'ktard was a lot bigger and older than me and was drunk(so was I). I was so pissed after the thing, but I was pretty happy ,when I heard that he got much worse treatment a week after(which he got ,because "someone" had heard, what he had done to me). Haven't had any more "throw downs".

I thought "Throw down" was the opposite of throwing up.

I was going to tell you a tale of vomit eating... But...

I've kicked people in the ass before. Literally. I had a guy once talk about something or other that was pissing me off, I grabbed him by the shoulders, spun him around, and booted him right in the ass. He was a bit older than I was, which was funny I suppose.

Um. Ew. :|

^Too true.

But, I've thrown down twice. Once when my step-brother and his friends threw something at me, and again when some ****er decided to pick a fight when I was just walking around.

Once a friend of mine had too much to drink, so he thought it would be funny if he headbutted me while we were walking back to a friends house. So i punched him in the face.

Haha, what a big tough man i was. And my penis was huge.

Other than helping my friends out when they get into a situation with somebody, i stay away from that violence crap. It looks alot better in the movies.

I only ever fight when fought. I'm not a fan of violence unless it is completely necessary (which is not often). Having said that i have been involved in a fair few fights. I guess people just love to hit me

:|

Luckily i i know how to stand up for myself, so i've come out of most of those relatively unscathed. One that sticks in my mind though, was when a friend of mine came down to visit me, it was his birthday soon after, so we went out on a pre-birthday celebration to a local bar. Nearing the end of the night, i'm standing at the bar and i hear someone shouting... naturally i turn round to see what's going on, and someone smacks me in the face..... one of my friends is just coming out of the toilet, runs over to help, drags one guy away from me, throws him against the bar, only to turn round and have his teeth put through his lower lip with a punch. Meanwhile, one of my other friends runs out of the bar in an attempt to flee the ensuing violence (which i was not best pleased about), leaving me to fend off 3 sets of fists on my own. I did my best to preserve myself (my rather bruised knuckles the next day were testament to this) but after a while i was knocked the floor and the guys proceeded to kick me in the ribs for while, before running off.

This somewhat dampened the enjoyment of my evening, and ended with my two friends being taken to hospital to treat their facial injuries. I would have done anything to avoid this but unfortunately there was no way out.

Don't fight unless it really is the last resort. Always stick up for those close to you, but don't resort to violence unless you have to. Fighting can also scar you mentally as well as physically sometimes, particularly if you have a bad experience, so try and defuse a situation wherever possible.
