Ive been to an anti-war meeting, A socialist meeting with guest speaker George Galloway, several local Respect meetings and two anti-war protests.
And there were no flamethrowers involved.

I was just at a pro-Israel demonstration in what's probably the most central synagogue in Copenhagen. I saw the Israeli ambassador to Denmark, David Walzer, a local politician, and Bent Lexner, Denmark's chief Rabbi. Amazing how many people can fit inside one of those Synagogues, Jews and Gentiles alike.. Heh.

Lol, i have better things to do then to protest, unless it's against a very vocal but small minority who demand everyone obeys them or be threatened with death and murder i.e. some animal rights activists, anti-capitalist morons, anti-globalisation nutjobs. I remember the last big anti-capitalist rally here in England, all it was was an excuse to go out and smash up a load of shops, destroy peoples lively hoods and deface statues and parks with swastikas.

I went on several marches against the Iraq War, one in Swansea (where I lived at the time) and two in London, the second of which (February 2003) was an amazing day....

I was at the same protest in feb 2003 ...only half a world away in my city ..yes it was an amazing day ...the world's single largest global action ever ...too bad more americans werent paying attention

No but I go to uni and there have been plenty organised by others. Some were anti-war, others focused on how the government is cutting funding to the uni's or VSU. There was even one on campus by the lectures/academic staff protesting poor working conditions. They held up cars trying to get into uni. At the end of the semester they even withheld exam results until some arrangement was met. I've never bothered to go because A) I've got better things to do and B) I don't think they really accomplish anything (and so far I've been right).

Millions of people expressing their political opinion is an accomplishment in itself. In the UK the Labour government was irreperably damaged by failing to even properly acknowledge the weight of feeling against its involvement in the war.. I'd imagine they lost hundreds of thousands of voters at the next and following elections. They certainly lost ministers and party members...

Protest is good. It gives the people a voice when democracy fails...Off course if there's violence involved -one side or the other- than it can be contra-productive...

Only the 1st of May demostration. I don't think that goes into any of the categories, but it has the most to do with "work related (unions, anti-sweatshop)", so I voted for that.

I've been to some (as a bystander, of course), but the only thing I participated in was a school protest outside the Regional Ministry of Education. And that was over 5 years ago, when I didn't know any better.

Others I watched, firebombs and the like. It was pretty sad, seemingly mature people trying to beat the crap out anything related to authority.

Counter-protests, I watched on tv, because right-wing groups and left-wing groups clashed against each other pretty violently. There were also people holding up signs that said "Stop beating up our sons! (in which case, the Combat Police)" and the like, and people beating up them as well as the police.

Bleh. I've never seen any protest here that worked, most likely because there have been no peaceful widespread protesting since the days of the Third Republic of Korea, and whatever the Student Federation of Korea (hanchongryun - wiki it) shouts out in their stupid illegal violence, people ignore.

I've been to a dozen student protests in Paris over the past six years. The last ones got really ugly and I'm sure you guys saw it on tv, burning cars and riot police beating the shit out of people. I was mostly there to take pictures, I stayed away from the troublemakers.

Me and some friends were pretty close to going to a ************** event. Those guys are hillarious. I didn't go because most of them are nuts and too extremist, I only wanted to be part of something that goes against the grain. Not to mention recently I have become closer to the middle of the political spectrum rather than more conservative.

and yes they're a bunch of nutbars ..I spent a few months at the forums and eventually had to leave in order to retain my sanity
