The hate of opinions which differ from his own?

I think it's the thought of all those menz tightly packed into a heaving crowd of manly, sweating, undulating mass of male flesh that sends shivers up their spines ..perhaps they have no will power and are afraid their true nature will emerge ..like psycho dad in american beauty

Gee, I hope you don't get sick or unemployed under your own regime.

Also, sounds like you're mainly bigoted. Mainly.

what regime im a minarchist like my founding fathers
whats wrong with the me being anti-socialist/progressivism. i dont believe in a welfare state since it steals money from the succesfull and gives it to white trash mothers who keeps popping out babies so they can get bigger checks from the government

I agree with you, on this post, anyway.

It's a byproduct of religion. Loving one another, helping the poor, the sort of thing Jesus did. Don't like it? Don't vote in religious leaders!

Also your country would probably be a lot worse without any welfare. You'd literally have no-go zones. Areas of the country run by mafia/gangs/armed militias. Utter slums like 3rd world countries on your own land, small scale civial wars like in other holes like Brazil or Iraq. Generations of kids growing up without any education because their parents can't afford it, why should that child suffer for something totally out of their control? So much of the world is screwed because of generational ownage. Would you enjoy that?

Plus it's much deeper than that. In a capitalist society, by definition, there has to be a balance of rich and poor. Not everyone can "GET THE JOB" or be successful. Communism doesn't solve that problem either.

Until better solutions are discovered, welfare has to suffice.

To say that you fail to see the nuances of the welfare issue would be a gross understatement.

Started protesting with the Feb 03 Hands off Iraq demo. 3 million people worldwide weren't able to avoid the war, but sure were able to make it mighty unpopular.

The anti-war coalition that I work with in my city organises rally's at least once a month around demands such as "Canada out of Afghanistan", "US/UK out of Iraq", and "Israel out of Lebanon and Palestine". In addition, we hold picket actions (usually to protest Canadian soldiers getting killed in Afghanistan), forums (discussion about what's going on with wars and occupations, and why we should give a damn), as well as petitions (in my city alone we've collected 11,000 signatures demanding Canada out of Afghanistan).

So yea, I've been to and helped organize over fourty protests/demonstrations. I've spoken at a few too.

Been to local protest vs Iraq War, and a local anti-racism protest. Now i no longer have time for protests, but i do think its a good thing. Its a powerfull peacefull tool i wish more people made use of, instead of.. you know, violant ways...

i've been to many, it's so incredibly important to show your government you wont just stand by everything they do.
a government should service the people, not the other way round.

I have never been to a protest. It would take a lot to get me off my chair and away from my computer games and internet.

If there was a ban on computer games and internet, i'd probably protest.

;) cracks me up...

HA! Of all the people to protest against the state, NUMBERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:D :D :D :D :D

hehe no he answered the poll questions wrong ..the poll is "Have you ever participated in a Protest/demonstration" ..he mentioned he watched from the sidelines ..he didnt participate ..that would be too subversive and tantamount to treason. He should have only marked the "counter demonstration" option

He should have only marked the "counter demonstration" option

I've never been to counter demonstrations because the leftists and rightists would beat each other up quite badly.
.

I've never been in one. Not that I haven't wanted to. Just that I didn't have the means to get there, or necessarily the full desire.

I'm not of the belief that you absolutely need to openly protest everything you disagree with. Just the big things.

I shouted at some scientologists once... does that count? they had e-meters!

meh to one in skool because they introduced passes to go out. if you didnt have a pass, you were FORCED to stay inside for lunch

that sucked.

id say a riot is a mixture of people expressing thier opinions in anger, and some others just there for the kick of throwing bricks at windows etcc..

oh cool. so in singapore its illegal for a group to demonstrate thier feelings?? hmm is the government controlling there?

hmmm...

I dressed like a robot on the first of May (The day everyone demonstrate here.). Noone thinks of the robots :'(

Protests and demonstrations are illegal here :rolling:

I love the goverment of Singapore! :D :D :D

****ing AWESOME!

We should do that too.... Only strikes and anti-state protests are illegal here....

but of course, freedom ftw

I was a part of an anti-war protest with my girlfriend on the third anniversary of our occupation in Iraq. I also participated in an anti-oil-dependence protest with my dad at the beginning of the summer.

I plan to go to many more in the future. Honestly, they're a lot of fun, and some of the reactions you get out of the passerby naysayers are priceless.

I've never been apart of a protest. However there arn't that many around here. The only protest we could have would be an Anti-Tourists Protest....but then our town would loose a lot of money and we'd plummet.

btw, anyone see the abortion episode of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" on FX? They go to pro-choice vs anti-abortion protests and hit on girls. lol. Funniest stuff ever.

Brainwashing ftl. Do you seriously mean to say that all anti-government protesters in Korea are anarchy advocates?

And even if that were true, what would be the problem? Can't anarchy advocates protest too?

I've participated in a student protest against tuition hike, being a UC student.

Being in Berkeley, I've watched a BUNCH of protests about Israel/Palestine, Iraq, Bush, immigration, and minority rep in universities.

My post was aimed at Numbers, I agreed with what you said, I just added to it saying that everyone should be able to protest.

The most protesting I've done is about the lack of beer in the fridge.

I've never really felt that any of the protests near me supported anything I really wanted.

Right. See, I got confused when you quoted me, then said something to Numbers... :upstare:
