Just cause someone gets called an Uncle doesn't mean they have to be brothers. somebody's Mom or dad's closest friends can often be called Uncle


Especially if its mom's closest male friends.. who seem to be around a lot when "dad" is away on business.

Alyx was born right before the invasion. That means during her whole life, her only friend probably was only Dog, and she's been hiding forever. With who? I know the answer! Her father and his close friend! Also, if you listen to Dr. Kliener and watch his actions, he almost treats her as a daughter.

I thought that about 10 years pass between HL1 and 2. Which would mean that Alyx had to be at least 10-15 at the time of the invasion, cuz she looks about 20-25 right now.

Perhaps.. you know what they say about bald guys.. And she sure did spend an awful lot of time in Kliener's lab, and Eli didn't seem to have a problem with her and older men (the way he winks at Gordon for example)

Edit: it's on the door to the teleporter in Kleiner's lab. There's also a picture of Eli and someone who looks a little like his wife cut from a newspaper.

Alyx was in Black Mesa too with her dad (Eli) so she was around in HL1.

She was probably around 8, because she can't be more than 20 in HL2. She might look slightly older than 20 because she's lived in hell and it's probably taken a toll on her looks, but her personality definately shows she's no older than 20. Or atleast that's what I think.

You know, I think we should pay more attention to the things stuck to the walls in the Labs. Might have some more background information. Using that picture that Alyx drew for Dr.Kliener (*cries*), she was probably really young, before 10.

So you’re saying valve didn’t think about this sort of thing before they started production cause well “it’s just a game?” Wow… amazing that the game came out so coherent with no plot holes then… I really ought to go buy a lottery ticket if that’s how odds work… I hope you’re not in charge of any mods with that attitude toward games.

Maybe I’m just crazy but I get this vibe that valve takes great care in production value for their games… but nah… I’m sure they don’t give a rip about anything…

Or perhaps what you’re saying is that I’m not supposed to scrutinize and closely examine a piece of popular art be it game, book, or movie? I don’t really know what you meant… but I don’t think I agree.

Besides... Everything in the game is important...

And Marc Laidlaw himself has stated that everything that is in the game is there for a reason...

No, it's really deep, it's just a pretty unusual way for a story to be told in a game, it usually unfolds in a rather obvious fashion you can't miss, while in HL/HL2, you really piece the small things together...

Ok, I've thought about this long and hard and I've come to a conclusion;
Alyx sucks at drawing, not the neatest writer either. The picture was done the day before Gordon arrived .

But seriosuly, the picture would have been done before the Black Mesa incident, Alyx is about 20 now and about 10 years have passed, that's not a drawing a 10 year old would do, more a toddlers drawing. Kleiner and Eli must have been good friends when Alyx was growing up, probably through work at Black Mesa.
