Hi guys!

Newbie here!

Just downloaded the Left4Dead demo and thought it was completely ace!
but as i got onto the second level i started having this graphical error.
has anyone got any ideas what it is?
or how to get rid of it and go back to normal?

Please help out a fellow Valve fan as i would love to play this demo without being reminded of some cheesy disco!

what do you guys think?

Disco Mod?

I would try installing your latest graphics drivers and go from there.

Latest graphics drivers?

Your not the only one with this issue but I haven't seen any real solutions to it yet.

Is this a one off or does it happen every time? You didn't happen to alt-tab (and back) when it happened, did you?

nope!

happens when i play the game.

ive noticed it happens on TF2 when i turn the HDR lighting on.

Two main things you can do which should fix your problem is, update your graphical drivers firstly. The second thing you can do is validate your L4D demo files. Right click the game in your 'my games' list, click properties. Click the local files tab, then 'validate integrity of game cache'. It's possible these corrupted yesterday during all the updates and fiasco which went on.

Also, have you just tried turning HDR off? Is your graphics card powerful enough to run HDR?

Please post your specs.

3.2 GHZ Pentium 4 HT
1gb RAM
128mb ATI Raedon X300
and lots of space free on HD

if it is a problem of HDR lighting.
is there a way of turning it of in L4D?
The thing is on TF2 it works brilliantly HDR lighting and all untill i load another map and i get the same bad paint job error.
Same is happening on L4D

That's your problem.

You're gaming on a laptop.

Nah im not.

in DXdiag it says my display is either

ATI Raedon X300/X550/X1050

and if i can get HDR lighting but this thing starts happening when i load a new level..

whats wrong?

Again, it's your video card.

Turn everything down.

I expierenced similar problems with an ATI X600, and I solved them by rolling back my driver version to the one that came with my computer (Steam says it's version 6.14.10.6601). Before I did that though, when the level loaded, I would just go into Setting > Video > Antialiasing and select anything else than what it was at the moment (like 4x to 2x or 2x to 4x) and press done, it'd rebind textures, and fix the problem. Hope this helps!

Somehow that screenshot reminds me of an old Die Hard game :d
