Ok so my current HDD, a 250gb is starting to fail, had it for over a year and a half now since I got this computer. For one it's been making annoying sounds for at least 6 months now (surprised it lasted this long from what I've heard about HDD sounds) and just these past few weeks it's been giving me errors about writing stuff like I just played some Halo and saved before I left and I see a message saying something like "HDD write failure for /games/halo/profile/etc." same for the other partition of the drive and reformatting didn't fix this (I guess it kinda made it worse cuz now it's happening on both partitions and before it only did for one).

So I'm thinking about getting another one, how does this one sound?

I dont know much about OEM quality so advice would be appreciated, I'm looking for a durable, cheap, 250gb SATA.
Also, will my pc manufacturer (Acer) windows XP cd install on to it?

Looks like a good deal to me. Anything under 9ms seek time is good in my opinion. OEM is just as good quality as other parts. I've had lots of good experiences with WD caviars.

Not sure about the Acer thing. Is it a normal windows XP cd or is it made by your pc manufacturer?

Might wanna email or call the manufacturer and ask them.
