HDR - How does it work?

Hello,

Does anyone have any links or knowledge on HDR and how it works in Source?

Also can someone confirm that the Pixel Shader version does affect the HDR?

This was the best explanation I could find. Anyone got any ideas regarding PS 3.0 support. From what I have heard it does not affect the the HDR and bloom effects.

Can anyone explain why I get a INCREASE in my frame rate when I turn it on? Dont get me wrong, I aint complaining, but its a bit wierd. Ive got a 9600pro 256vRAM, Athlon 2500+ clocked at 2.0ghz and 1 gig of pc2600 ram.

I was getting like 25 fps avg with high settings, and when I turned it on I am averaging 30+, on the same maps, all with about 20 or more people.

It's really strange, I get smooth, REALLY smooth FPS *with* HDR. Seems extremly strange to me.

Do you have massive fps before hand? It could be acting like vsync and keeping the frames lower.
