HDR video display problems.

Having bad spots all over randomly in-game on Lost Coast and DOD with HDR on.

Some textures i get white dots and others are red. Only when HDR is on.

I have 256mb 9800xt and 3200 amd 64 OC to 2.4 with 768 pc3200 RAM.

Dots flicker about randomly inside the textures, does it when the comp is first turned on, after its been on a while no matter what. Updated ATI drivers and rolled back, nothing.

Anyone had this problem/know what the hell is wrong?

EDIT: Here is a screen shot, it gets so bad i can't see what the hell the texture is half the time.

Is your graphics card overclocked? How are you for heat?
What Operating System are you using, Windows XP?

I managed to play TLC perfectly fine on my Pentium 2.8, 1GB, 9800Pro 128MB with HDR enabled and settings on high.
Well, not perfectly . . . when I killed that chopper, the Combine Soldiers AI kicked out for some reason, they were just standing there with their arms out. . . .

Try re-installing your latest ATI drivers, not forgetting to uninstall your current version.
Does running the game on different resolutions do anything?

It looks to me like you have a problem with artifacts. Your video card RAM is running too hot. You should get some more fans or underclock your card a little.

My card is not overclocked. I have 7 case fans and just cleaned the filter. Runnin XP corporate.

Nothing changes when I change resolution except i ovbiously get better FPS the lower the res, the HDR "dots" are still there.

Where are all those fans positioned and which direction do they blow the air?

Sounds like overheating to me, or, the card doesn't like HDR... have you got DOD:Source? Does it do the same on there? Have you verified your lost coast/HL2 files?

Nothing is fishy. When HDR is on the graphics card has to take a huge load of info and process it. When HDR is on, the graphics card has to do so much more work. Download the latest drivers, tweak your graphics card a bit and turn down some of the settings.

i get green triangles flashing about the place, but only once i get up to the top in the courtyard area. until then everything's fine

Yeah it sounds like you got snow. Probably the data is getting corrupt in your video cards memory and usually happens when overheating.

Ya i've got DOD: source and it does the same there, have to turn it off cuz i can't see crap with all the snow.

I'll pull the door off the comp and see if there are any obvious obstructions in the airflow around the card.

I have this exact same problem. 9800pro AIW. Only occurs on LC and DOD:S. Nothing in my system is overclocked and temperatures are fine (according to Motherboard Monitor).
