Headcrab cannon?/Combine tech

I never saw this in the game. Where was it?

Secondly, if this is a combine, then how the heck did they build any technology in the first place when they didn't have any appendages?

Wah?

Do you mean the device that launches the headcrab-filled mortars? No, you never see it, and it's currently debated as to whether it was an immobile cannon (like one of the Combine's mounted assault weapons, 'cept bigger) or a synth. Or maybe both.

Where did we hear about it originally?

Also, another question:

A-6 What are those things eating up the city as well as Nova Prospekt? I would imagine that they're simply consuming the city to use the raw materials for whatever the Combine need raw materials for. Notice that in Nova Prospekt they are simply consuming garbage.

What things?

the mortars are being fired from a cannon, originally you would travel to this ordnance depot that had this cannon, you would take control it, or destroy it, but the cannon was phased out, but the shells stayed in (from raising the bar artbook)

yes just another excellent idea which they did not use.

pity

I assume that's not supposed to be the whole combine being. Just enough to convey what is meant to be seen on the screen he talks to Dr. Breen on.

Actually, they used to have appendages, yet there technology became so far advanced that they lost all use of them, and thus they evolved into those massive, bloated...combines...

Headcrab cannon? What the gonarch thing? Big Momma? Thats the combine advisor, its a different thing. Its used to make decisions for the combine, but relies so heavily on its knowledge, its lost its ability to move, and so it supported by the combine race to help them. You are getting your wires crossed.

...no...He means the bombs that the combine shoot on unsuspecting towns...and no...thos ARE the combine, they relied so much on technology that they lost all need for limbs, and became one big massive (i'm guessing here) brain...with tiny little legs sticking out (they look so funny, lol)
And i guess you're the one with your wires crossed...

Well, that's the only pure combine we get to see anywhere in the game, so they could all be like that.

One last question: why does everyone whine about the physcannon not being in the game when it was?

1. stop asking so many ****ing questions!

the physcannon wasn't in the game, unless it was the blue grav gun. there was a gun that could 'weld' things together that Valve took out, which is what most people are complaining about

the 'physgun' is the the thing that welds things together. the 'Physcannon' is what you have through out the games single player, the blue one at the end is just an unpgrade.
