i got my msi rx9800 pro going up from 378 core, to 420 mhz and like 726 memory using a card fan to cool.. now how hot should the card be...for me its modereatly warm and if its still like warm should i push it up more?

If you get artifacts ingame then it's too hot. If not then you should be safe. It's best to stress test your card after you OC to make sure it does not heat up enough overtime to create artifacts.

Run 3Dmark2003 or Aquamark3 in a loop. Or you could just play a graphic intensive game for a while. :)

My graphics card hits 80 C pretty easy ingame. That's about 176 F, if I calculated that right.

That's actually a relief to hear. What are generally considered the normal temperatures for a GPU under stress?

I've been hitting 75c (55c idle) with my x800Pro in Doom III and Far Cry and I was concerned my card was too hot. I'm slightly worried about it frying too soon.

wow mine is at 40 C in cs:s with overdrive enabledlol.

either connect a fan controller into one of your pc bays, and this will help/tell you what temperature each fan you connect it to is giving out (therefore your chip temp) and allows the control of the fan speeds.

or just literally stick a thermometer in there...but dont actually touch the gpu.

This is a bit off topic, but I've just fitted an arctic cooler to my 9800pro. Just wondering, if I havn't made a very good job of it, would I get artifacts pretty much straight away in Farcry? Is that the best way of telling?

 I've also a x800 Pro and get like 70 C in game. I don't think there's anything to worry about 70C(GPU's tend to get more hotter than CPU's).
