The Game:

Hell Blaze is set in a city where hell has mixed with reality.
You take the role of Rachel as she attempts to escape the nightmare that has engulfed the night. Death is no escape from the hell that is Hell Blaze.

Features:
- An Intense story line
- Over 10 types of weaponry
- Over 10 types of creatures
- Detailed urban environments


Story Preview:
Rachel wakes up to a dark room. The power is out and there is a strange red glow from outside. Her cat starts mewing from the kitchen downstairs. Upon reaching the bottom of the stairs she notices the kitchen light keeps going on and off. She opens the door to see a torch lying on the table turning itself on and off, which also seemed to make the kitchen lights to do the same.
She walks over and turns off the torch and the whole kitchen plunges into darkness. Her cat makes a horrible screech and then the cat flap is heard. Turning on the torch Rachel looks at the cat bed which is drenched in blood which trails out to the door, she runs into the street to find the street lamps are out and the place is deserted.

*The story is currently being writen again, so that was pretty pointless saying all that*

Now that's what I call an intriguing story :)

The only problem I see (as a whole, considering the project) is that once you get a big gun (for instance the SMG) it starts to loose alot of the scary factor. With Source, I could imagine a mod where you dont have weapons like this, just use the enviroment and "small" weapons (a knife is no problem, neither is a crowbar, possibly not a simple gun, but an SMG? That's kind of odd to just find laying around...)
 
Yeah, thats a pretty valid point. Ill talk to the lead designer about that, thxs!
 
that thing...with the hand/face...thats pretty messed up.

That story exerpt is really great too, very nice work.

Just an idea, but I think it would be pretty cool if you put in a stamina system, and make the default moving speed a walk, so you could walk and then sprint for a short time.
I think this would encourage the player to look around alot, and therefore increase the scare factor.

Neat. I remember another game having similar types of enemies, and they did look quite scary indeed... (never played it, dont even remember the name, just saw a screenshot in a magazine)
 
when I saw the hand-face thing, I immediately thought Silent Hill...the body-bag things.
 
sounds a bit like silent hill to me, but better, i liked the first bit of the old storie you wrote in the first post that sounded scary lol
 
Also, remember to use sounds alot.. like distant howls, ambient sounds.
But also high pitched sounds when something comes out to attack the player, sound is very important. This is of course for the later parts of the creation :)

Anyway this sounds very promising, I think you can create a new level of scary with Source.
Also, make Rachel hot, of course :D

Hopefully rachel will be hot if we get a character modeler ;(

And yeah, sound and music is very important in a horror mod :D
 
oh oh! another idea!
the first little bit of your mod should be ala AVP2 wherein you don't meet up with anything...but there are still sounds, like garbage cans falling over, that stuff.

Yes we already have that idea :D, what happens is you find your the only one etc...then you begin to meet up with the survivors. But this will happen in a more exciting way :D
 
Rachel will be hot if I have anything to do with it. Of course, I'm not a character modeler, but... I have my ways... :hmph:

I've been thinking about doing that, but I still need to be told what body features, clothing, etc. she has.

Then again, if my only orders are to "make her hot"...

Reworked Story (your only getting the beggining for now :p)

Rachels house:
Rachel wakes up in a cold sweat. Her room is pitch black except for a strange red glow that seems to be coming from outside in the street. She gets out of bed, and moves over to the bedroom door. Just as she puts her foot on the landing her cat starts to mew horribly downstairs in the kitchen. Rachel walks down the stairs and turns to go in the kitchen. She stops dead in her tracks. The kitchen light keeps flicking on and off as if someone is playing with the light switch. Cautiously she enters the room. She looks at the table. Sitting on top of the table is a torch. The torch keeps turning itself on and off, causing the light switch to do the same. She goes over to pick it up, and as she touches it the whole room plunges into complete darkness. The cat gives off a chilling screech and there is the sound of the cat flap. Rachel manages to turn the torch on and shines it at the cat bed. Rachels gasps in horror, the cat bed is drenched in blood and cat intestine. Panicking Rachel flees from the kitchen and out the front door into the street. Catching her breath she looks around. There is a strange red gloom over everything, and the street lamps are out. The red glow seems to be coming from the sky. Looking in up she stifles a cry. The sky is clouds moving at unatural speed and scorched red. A deathly silence descends on the street. Rachel looks around, disbelieving that this nightmare is real. The silence is suddenly shattered by a series of gunshots from a near by alleyway. Knowing that she would rather be with gunman than left on her own, Rachel heads for the alley.

*adds this to his personal anticipated mod list*

I love things that prey on the fear element... can't wait to play this.

You could do some things with the automatic zooming on an object that Source has (like it does on Alyx when he looks at her in the Lab video). Like, player hears some cans rattling down an alley to the left, looks over, and it zooms in on a menacing looking shadow just disappearing around the corner of a building.
 
I like that bot! But I think fleshy models bring more fear into play. Though not stupid models like Doom ;)

The female is lovely. Screw realism, exageration huzzah! :)

Its not in Hell Blaze...that was an example of his work ;)
 
If you guys are still looking for help for concept art / voice acting lemme know ill see what i can do to help you guys out, i love the mod idea, and the "morbid" setting to the mod fits my criteria perfectly.
 
For those of you wondering, the new site design is almost done. :)
