fps rpg from ex-blizzard peeps

sounds kinda neat but I'm kind of tired of the whole "fantasy, hell, zombie, monster" scenario ...we need a good cyber-punk fps rpg game a la Deus ex ..the fantasy setting is starting to get a bit overused

Thanks for that CptStern, I was wondering what it was going to look like.

at this early stage it looks very... Painkiller-ish, however they have some very cool concepts. (some of those screens remind me of Blood1 hehe)

finally! someone posts in my thread!!

ya it looks like painkiller ...hopefully the gameplay will be more indepth than just shooting everything that moves

It doesn't look that great. Why are the screens in such low resolution?

The gameplay is quite diffrent from a FPS, remember this is also a RPG.
-You could have 2 pistols. They have the exact same name. One could do more damage and have more range than the other.
-If you hit\miss a guy is also stat based.
-Every level will fully randomized(Think Diablo 1)
-Alot of things taken from D2.
-Socket type things.
-A horadric cube type thingy.

Infact what really only sets this game from Diablo1\2s:
Location, Story, Time, Fps+Rpg.

As Pc:G said,
"Where suprised they had to leave Blizzard North to make it".

Now I have seen the screens... looks crappy. The backgrounds looks weak, the gun and the models.

A game like this is better to have crappy graphics and lots of ennemies than superb graphics and only 2 monsters at the same time.

Who cares about graphics. If the game is kick ass I'll play it for a long time.

Bull, as much as anyone wants to look mighty by saying Graphics dont matter, they do. At least to me, if the backgrounds look crummy, the monsters unrealistic and stupid (Like they do) and the weapons make no sence, then its not going be a good rpg, a good rpg sucks you in with its good artwork and world.

I've played worse looking games for a long time, I don't really see why it matters. It's the younger generation who is starving for graphics not gameplay.

Im 20 years old, I was playing games before they had any gfx what-so-ever, like humbug, text adventures. So dont tell me that Im part of the younger generation.

Well, I appreciate games for what they are not what they look like. Looking at those pics they aren't butt ugly but they aren't the greatest.

First I would like to say that I'm really excited about this game.
I think the graphics (particularly the textures) are not yet at a 'good' standard. I'm sure they will improve over time as it gets polished up (monsters wouldn't be called unrealistic and stupid if they looked like*this* would they?).

However I agree that this will not be a graphics-technology giant like Doom3. Blizzard has always produced games that scale to lower end machines and I don't think Flagship will do any different. From what I've seen, what they lose in tech they make up for in art design. It's medieval, futuristic, industrial, and even a bit cartoony (http://flagshipstudios.org/node/175) and I have a feeling it'll be good enough to win many people over.

Im talking about more then how many polycounts on a model, Im talking about what looks fitting and realistic, for example Half life 2 and doom 3 had very realistic places and weapons for what time/place the games where set in.

World of warcraft has fantastic gfx, not because there high poly (Anything but high poly) but because you stop to look at things like the huge gates of Ironforge or the statues outside Stormwind because there so well made and you could tell someone cared about what they where doing.

This on the other hand just looks dull and uninteresting, I doubt playing that Im going to stop at any time to admire how well the maps are made, because there boring. Meh..

Maybe a game like Stalker may be more suiting for you then, the environments are amazing.

I think the word used is Art Direction or somthing. You can have all the pretty looking models or evil looking demons at stupidly high polys all you like, if the art direction sucks they dont get used or made in a way that fits in with there world there in. Its going to crummy.

Well as a Diablo(1) fan, I kind of like the art direction.
anyway,

This....this...perfect.
