nothing.

screen goes black.

then reboots.

also, does anyone know how much graphic cards cost?

i think i should change mine.

Between $60 and $700... It depends what you need. What would be the most important to consider is the games you'll play. If you play Diablo2 then you don't need a $400 video card.

Anyway, just to give you a good idea: if you are a casual gamer: Radeon 9600XT. If you play many games (HL2, Doom3, Unreal2004) and you plan to play new games like Stalker etc. then you need a 9800PRO. If you want top performance then you would choose an X800. Of course there are all the Nvidia equivalents.

thats about 2 times more than i have alltogether.

and my parents wouldn't pay because they don't play games....

i guess its the end of my gaming.

better get that huge book out......... ;(

well, at least i can play cs and hl1.....

only them ;(

Like I said the card that would be cheap and would let you play HL2 would be the Radeon 9600XT. http://www2.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102467R
$102.00.

You could not play on full settings but at least you could play HL2 at a decent speed.

Make sure your case and cpu are not too hot before you change the vid card. The 9600XT do not get as hot as the 9800Pro of course but it still creates alot of heat and it takes a certain amount of power (so make sure you do not have a cheap PSU).

If it is overheating, I suggest you get an extra fan in there, and keeps one side of the case open, same thing happened to me.
If a few extra fans don't work, save for one of those coolermasters.

Althought... I believe it has to do with the processer, that was what happened with mine, of course, I was surprised it worked, (got new comp) My bro's mainboard, with the processer in it fried, I would suggest some cheap extra fans, maybe see if you can get a processer, that works with your comp, (Say, get a spare one of a friends, etc., something free)
If that stops the crash, I believe that is your problem.
Maybe do a quick ram check also (I don't remember how to correctly use those, and use data obtained from them).
