Help. Game beeps when I try to climb ladder

Hi guys! I have searched this site for my prob. I have been to Valve support and searched there. I have searched GameFaqs, my usual haunt.

Brand new game playing on X-box 1. I'm stuck in Ravenholm trying to climb a ladder. The game beeps at me in the manner when an option is not available in the game. However the walkthrus definitely say I should climb the ladder.

More detail on where I ma: Early in Ravenholm, electric fence deactivated. You are supposed to to climb one ladder to a landing and then a SECOND LADDER to a second landing, then jump acorss the gap between buildings and meet Gregori for the first time.

I am not allowed to climb the second ladder. Who's encountered this?

Uh, that's odd. Don't you just walk up the ladder? Is there a button in the XBox version to attach yourself to the ladder or something when climbing? :O

There's a button on the PC version to mount and dismount ladders, the use key.

littlekidd: Have you tried walking right into the ladder? I don't know the differences between the xbox and PC version, maybe 'use' doesn't work there.

Man, it's been ages since I played. I remember just walking up them.

Precisely. Never did I press use to get on a ladder, that is utter madness.

I agree. Walking up the ladder, looking up, and holding down forward got me up.
