I have 2.8Ghz with 512 RAM and an ATI 9600 Mobility Radeon. The game keeps crashing on my system. It freezes and I have to turn my laptop off manually. I can't update my video card drivers because ATI doesn't put out drivers for its mobility cards and HP (my laptop company) doesn't have any new drivers that I can download. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Even if your radeon is mobile, it should still use the 9xxx series drivers.

What driver should I download. When I have tried to install the drivers for the 9xxx series before, errors occur. If anyone could give me a link to download the drivers that I need for my mobility radeon 9600, please give me the link. My current driver is 6.14.10.6392

Can anyone help me with this problem? Half Life 2 freezes at the same spot for me every time I play it. It's really making me angry! Why?????????

Billy I used to have this problem whenever I would game for an extended period of time. The problem was my cpu was over heating ... When the game freezes does it keep repeating the last sound you herad in the game??? LIke a gunshot for instance repeating and going *bang bang bang bang * ? ... That used to happen to me ... I' m not sure what exactly the problem is, but this could be it ...

if over heating is your problem, take a compressor or one of those compressed air cans and shoot it up the area where your laptop fan is located, if its gathered dust and other debris it will choke your airflow overheating the CPU.

If it really is the same place everytime, it's a game issue. Otherwise, like others have said, something's getting overhead.

Mine freezes right after it loads each checkpoint/savepoint or whatever. This is pissing me off. I'm gonna check the drivers and see if that helps. I also have an HP laptop.

My game also freezes after the game loads each time. This is making me quite angry as well. I'm running an HP Pavillion Desktop a614n.

Just in case you guys have not allready done this, the following is from the front page of halflife2.net.

A small number of Half-Life 2 customers have been experiencing problems while playing the game, and we have traced these issues to corrupt Steam cache files. We've released a Steam update to help resolve these issues. If you have been experiencing problems such as crashing during gameplay or startup of Half-Life 2, please restart Steam and then click on one of the links below. Steam will then automatically verify your cache files. The verification process will take roughly five minutes to complete.

Just go to the front main page and scroll down a bit to find the verification link.

I hope this helps someone.
