HELP: Loading HL2 on new computer...

I have the HL2 version downloaded from Steam and I am getting a new computer in a week so I was wondering how I can get HL2 and all my HL games on the new computer because I dont think Valve would let me have HL2 on 2 computers since I only payed for it once. I am going to clear the old computer with a restore disk so I can sell it but how will Valve know that I dont have it on the old computer so I can dl it to the new one. Please let me know what I am supposed to do. Thanks in advance.

i think, i repeat, think, that you can download it as many times as necessary, as long as ur using the same account. i have the cd version, but it has let me do the updates multiple times ( i uninstalled it), without complaints. check with other people first tho

Yes, just use the same Steam account and you should be fine. Don't make a new account and try to register the key on that one.

So what you are saying is that if I really wanted to I could go on my friends computer and dl HL2 from my account so that he could have it too without paying?

That should work, but you wouldn't be able to play online at the same time. So if your friend logged in to your Steam account from his computer, you wouldn't be able to login on yours (though you would be able to play in offline mode I think)

You can have your account installed on as many pc`s as you like, but you can only log into your account on one system at any one time.
