I'm a little confused as what game to buy, here are my choices: World Of Warcraft, Medal of Honor Pacific Assault, and Vampires: Bloodlines. I've read the reviews but I'm still undecided

here's some pros and cons:

MoH Pacific Assault: I love ww2 games, sp might get boring, but the MP looks good and ensures I'll be playing for awhile

cons: the community is a lot smaller than MoHAA

World of Warcraft: not big on mmorgs especially if it means having to spend a lot of time leveling up just to be on par with other players ...especially as I dont have the time to invest 5 hours a day on playing. Price ..the price is easily twice as much as any other game ..and will be more expensive the more I play

Vampires: not sure of this one, not a big fan of vampires, dont know the pen and paper version but I'd like to try something different. Replayabilty is a plus, no multiplayer is a minus

personally I usually only buy games that have a lot of replay value ..not going to spend $60 on something I'll finish in a week

so what do you recommend? please only comment if you've played at least 2 out of 3 games on my list. Thanks :E

The MP of PA is really bad, and the SP is average and boring. But its the best of those 3. :p

for me, it's a toss up between Vampire and WoW.

Vampire is bugged to hell and back. you can't even complete the game unless you do some tinkering with the console and various commands etc. but if you can look past the rough edges it's a diamond amongst the rough of recent stale RPGs. it's kind of like Deus Ex set in the Vampire world. great stuff until a bug rears it's ugly head. you'll probably get around 25+ hours from singleplayer, then there's the replayability (i haven't bothered replaying it yet as i'm waiting for a patch).

WoW. i love this game. what i suggest you do is, A. move to europe, B. buy the european release in february and play with us :D

WoW is a different sort of experience to Vampire. you'll play Vampire maybe twice through, then stick it on the shelf to gather dust. WoW will still be churning up new content a few months down the line. a worthy investement if you ask me. Blizzard have also designed WoW with both hardcore and casual gamers in mind. so you can probably spread your gaming out over a few months and not have to worry about levelling up or anything.

get WoW!

TIMMYY, what's wrong with MoH PA's MP? I played the demo and loved it ..although it was buggy as hell

Dedalus, why move to europe? are the servers better? I know the ;) ...Tell you what, if canada joins the coalition I'll emigrate to europe ..shouldnt be too hard, I'm already a citizen :E

I keep flip flopping between Vampire, and WoW ..although I think MoH PA would be cool too ...dear god why is this so hard to decide????

World of Warcraft. Hands down the best game of 2004. Possibly the best game for the last 4 years.

blahblahblah nice to see you're still with us :) ....hmmm why do you think it's the best game of the last few years? I'm primarily a fps gamer but I'm willing to try something new. I do like games that push the envelope. I signed up for the WoW beta but only played for a few hours ...it was confusing and didnt run all that great on my pc ..even though it should have

Uhhh...I'm dumb and I voted for Other. WoW gets my vote. I've played each of them and WoW definitely has the most replay value but it comes with the monthly fee.

WORLD OF WARCRAFT without a doubt. IMO, WOW is better, longer and more fun than HL2.

WATH THE VIDEO REVIEW (scroll down to the bottom of the page, past the amazing score).

P.S. have you actually play it? did you get into the beta or anything?

Yeah, been pretty busy with school, World of Warcraft, and life in general.

WoW takes the Blizzard formula of fast, easy, fun gameplay and puts it into an RPG.

- It has great graphics. It runs great, most likely turn down a couple of the graphical options a tad. Remember, WoW is displaying more polygons at a time than a hallway in Doom 3 or Half-Life 2. Just be sure to keep on specular highlights - that is what makes WoW look so amazing.
- The scope of the game is massive. It would take you a long time to fully explore WoW.
- It has perfect balancing. No race or class has an advantage over one another. I'm on my second character (one is a priest, the other is a paladin). Both characters are equally good, they just focus on completely different areas.
- Professions are interesting and fun to do.
- The game is polished. Almost no bugs and the almost no lag (since the 2 day)
- PvP (if you choose to do so) is incredibly fun.
- Death is no longer an agonizing penalty in MMORPG. You die, take a 10% durability hit on items and find your body and get back to fighting. No XP losses = less frustration.
- The game moves fast for an RPG. This makes it much more fun than a MMORPG.
- You can solo if you want to. Likewise you can be in a group the entire game as well.
- The environments are colorful and varied
- The Warcraft universe is throughout the entire game. A vast number of quests give you bits and pieces of the storyline. I love the fact that the quests you do is directly related to the overall storyline. Makes you feel like you are involved with the Warcraft Universe.
- In fact, nearly everything is great about World of Warcraft. It is truely genre defining. It takes what was good in most other games, and makes it better. I'm sure I forgot a bunch of other amazing things about World of Warcraft as well.

Stick with WoW for 5 hours, it grows on you fast. When I first joined the WoW Beta, I was confused just like you. I had little idea what was going on (I never was in a MMORPG before). Soon enough I was playing and enjoying the game, before I knew it, I was addicted to it. Just stick with it and the game because clear to you. Reading the manual can really help too.

Hmm, let me see...

Very laggy
Bad maps
Not enough maps
The graphics are worse in SP than in MP (strange I know)
NOBODY works as a team, its like a free for all all the time, even on Obj maps
Poorly optimized
Teams are a bit unblalanced

But the single player was pretty cool, especially Pearl Harbour, and that intro into Tarawa Atoll at the start...

The only thing bad about the SP is that some of the levels mid way through are a bit repetative, and theres no replay value, besides trying to get all the "Hero Moments" in each level. I finished it a few days ago, and havnt touched it since. :(

Like everyone else said, WoW wins hands down. Vampire Bloodlines seems good, i bought it but its so buggy i can't get into it, it runs like shit on my card (x800) and i feel really let down with it. It had potential and blew it up on the 16th of November 2004 when it got released. Not only did i feel let down with the gameplay effecting bugs, i felt even more let down because this game was waiting for HL2 to come out for months and it should of won 'Most polished game 2004' award or something.

Anyway yeah WOW IS TEH BESTEST!! :D

Wow! definetly wow !! :D HEAR ME CPTSTERN WOW WOW WOW!! nothing else or i will come to canada and chop you in the head with a big smelly whale! Wow..

Hmph. I'm the only one who voted for Vampire: The Masquerade-Bloodlines? :hmph:

WoW - it looks fantastic :)

(i'll be the dancing gnome in the loin cloth called Warbie)

i think the vote is pretty conclusive. what's it gonna be stern? :E

I'm with WoW people... :D

Doing Wailing Caverns (one of the neato instance areas) yesterday with a group of 2 warlocks, a hunter, and a warrior (me) was some of the best gaming evar. We didn't just do main quest in there, either... nooooo, we did eeeeeverything! :p Including two 'optional' super-bosses. :O And all without a healer... it rocked.

wow (no pun intended :E ) I didnt think the poll would be so one sided ...WoW was initially it was my 3rd choice, but now after reading more reviews and hearing all your impressions I may just have to buy it ..thanks all :)

but I must admit that WoW is so overwhelming ..there's just too much info out there. Thanks guys I can always count on honest reviews from the community, I'm a bit weary of "official" reviews, although WoW received high scores in every review

just to say... WOW is as easy to pick up as HL2. its so simple you dont need a tutorial. i can garantee within 1 hour of playing it you will already be immersed by it.

another thing is it doesnt require much commintment- you can pick up your character a month from where you left him, and you will automaticaly slip right back into the rythm and start having fun. dont think that just because its a MMO you will need to commit your life to it... but you WILL want to!!!!

Incase any of you wanted it to get a guide on what weapons you should be using, try http://www.thottbot.com/. I don't reccomend the site if you want the game to be a surprise, it contains just about every single thing in the game. I personally don't use the site, i've just bookmarked it for the future when i'm pretty high level and looking at moving to PvP.

Get Pirates! since it's full of...cool.

No offence WoW people, but the game that allows me to charm the Governor's daughter, plunder the British navy for all their worth and then go out and sack an island, declaring myself Governor in the process has me won over.

WoW is January's purchase.

Cod & Cod UO. I personally love the CoD: UO Mp. The berlin map on CoD: UO, well...that map is simply..amazing. Real nice game. The SP is great, and the mp is great. It is by far the greatest WW2 experince.

Otherwize wait for Guild Warsn - The free MMORPG. I can tell they have the tools for easy drastic level changes. E3 it was amazing and fun. The WPE(World Preview Event) had a total diffrent change in everything and kept my addicting for hours. How it works can cause your party to use tacitcs etc.. Really nice graphics and lighting effects. There simply mind blowing. I love the camera. 20%(and the staters) of the company were key people in sc, wc series, diablo series, and battle.net itself.

The game is simply..well "Blizzard" quality.

For right now for the best WW2 experinces, CoD and its expansion have done it for me.
