I really need help installing this card.. Everytime I go through installation it says
"The software that you are installing for this hardware:
MSI Radeon 9800 PRO Plus

has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP. (Tell me why this is important)

Continuing your installation of this software may impair or destabilize the correct operation of your system either immediately or in the future. Microsoft strongly recommends that you stop this installation now and contact the hardware vendor for the software that has passed Windows Logo testing.

Options: Continue anyway or Stop installation"

I click continue then this is what I get..
"Setup was unable to complete the installation.
Try to setup your display adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup."

Please, Please, Please help me..

Are you installing the ati drivers on the disc that came with the card or using the windows auto install thingy.

As you must use the drivers on the disc and not the windows thing cancel it and use the cd.

I used drivers that came on the CD and that is the error I keep getting.

See if you read what the error is, it says that my software for the hardware has not passed Windows Logo testing.. What does that mean?

Plus I do not know what kind of motherboard I have. As it came standard with the computer.

Well...You can ignore the MSG window since all it is saying is MS has not reviewed the drivers yet. It is perfectly fine to install them. Hitting continue is the right thing to do.

Did you uninstall any previous drivers?
Do you have the basic Display Driver installed?

Hold the Windows Key and hit Break or Right click on 'My Computer' and go to Properties.
You will want to go into Device Manager and look for a yellow Icon. That would indicate that the drivers for that device are not installed completely. Check if your display adapter has the drivers installed correctly.

See I did that but then it gave me that second error.
"Setup was unable to complete the installation.
Try to setup your display adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup."

So please someone help me...

I unistalled all the previous drivers. I used the program called Driver Cleaner 3 and it got rid of all of the previous ones.

If it doesn't ill laugh, long, and hard. yes thats right long and hard.

Forget the drivers on the cd. Probably outdated anyway. Get the updated drivers from ati.com

What motherboard or chipset do you have?
If an Icon is yellow in your device manager then right click on it and install or update drivers.

All you need is the basic video driver that comes with windows. It just needs to be installed since it was removed.

When you uninstalled the old drivers and rebooted then a little ballon pop up thats says it detected a new hardware? Check to see if you put the card all the way in.

CPU: 2.66 P4
Ram: 512
OS: Win XP
Hard Drive: 120gb
Anything else?

Just for kicks, do a windows update and see if it wants to install the drivers for ya. ;)

Make sure you are downloading the correct driver for your OS. I made this mistake once and got exactly the same error.
