microatx is a small type of motherboard. do you have a shuttle or a tiny case?

Horrible deal.

The Intel Celeron processors are notoriously bad performers, especially in games.

It is kinda of a crappy time for budget processors. The old budget processor leader, the AMD Athlon XP line has been discontinued and has seen its prices sky rocket over the past month which pretty much eliminates it for a budget chip.

AMD recently released its new budget chips called the AMD Sempron processor, but its performance is below that of an XP. Intel likewise has released a new budget processor called the "Celeron D." It is kinda of a tie between the two, neither give good performance when compared to the Athlon XP.

If I had to choose, I would say buy the Sempron processor as they give a slightly better value than the Celeron D's. A better option is to search around and see if you can still find a good deal on an Athlon XP processor.

Definitely go with Athlon XP. As for the video card, the 9000 is still good and you can upgrade later. What about you ram, should be at least 512.

celeron or xp 3000+, with a radeon 9000, you are going to get similar crappy performance in hl2.
