HELP NEEDED!!!!
as of yesterday, (when i was downloding the far cry demo, although this is probally a coincidence) my mouse lagged. for a couple of seconds the pointer wouldnt move, then everything went back to normal. Scince then this has become more frequent, and now my optical mouse sometimes presses buttons for me :'(
so, i checjed for programs running in the background that are illegal. nope- wasnt that.
at first i thought it was a problem with the pc, but its not. then i thought it was a problem with the mouse, and i still do.
the mouse is a microsoft intellimouse explorer3.0 and uses a usb cable, but has an adapter to make it fit into the mouse port. i was using the mouse port, so i changed to using USB port.
this has fixed the problem but brought up another. NOW instead of frequent lagging, there is a short sound (to indicate hardware going offline, im guessing) and the light at the bottom (the thing that actually reads the mouse position) goes off. At first this happened for 5 secs, then it came back online with another short sound. it happened again later, but didnt come back online. i inserted it into a different slot. all was fine until it did it again.
AAAAARRGGHHHH!!!!!!!
does any1 have any advice? does any1 know whats going on?? is it the mouse? is it the pc??? is it a faulty cable???

plz help!

Reinstall the mouse drivers, that's probably the only advice I can give you.

And you could check the cable if it's plugged good enough and check the hardware stuff in Windows.

microsoft intellimouse explorer3.0

This is a common problem with the intellimouse explorers and many, many people expierence it. I have had three of them do exactally what you describe so far.

I dont know if there is a way to fix it, but they do carry a five year warrenty. The best thing to do is go to the place you bought it and get an exchange for a new one. I have exchanged two faulty ones so far but fortumatly the one I have seems to not have the problem the other two had.

If you dont have the reciept they might have the pruchase on record (like Radio Shack does) which is as good as a recipt. You coudl also try phoning microsoft tech support to see what they can do. I have heard that they do a lot of exchanges on this product.

the mice are expensive, but i am glad to have finally located the problem. in some ways i am more glad it is a (maybe unsolvable) problem with the mouce rather than a problem with my PC.

Im just gonna get a new mouse. thing is i lost the software for it when i got a new PC, and the box, and the recipt..... plus my m8 recently has got a mouse better than mine and i NEED to upstage him. Trouble is, he got a better PC as well. from his fu**ing uncle. ffs. BUT I STILL HAVE A BETTR GRAPHICS CARD THAN HIM!!!! eat that!!!! sorry, i diagress. anyway im getting a new mouse. ahem.

That wouldn't account for the phantom button clicks...

well it was only the side button and the mouse wheel. no. i dont have large hands. AAAARGGGH IT HAPPENED AGAIN i am feeling depressed rite now. leave me alone. if a new mouse doesnt work i will cry. and probally wont stop. i may take the new mouse back but i wont stop crying.

sounds like a personal problem....

Er, nevermind :)

Anyhow, I have an IntelliMouse Optical, it's going down the crapper, luckily my MX700 is coming in today

how many ppl in here have had intellimoses go wrong???

and where is the best place to buy mice?
!!!dont say the pet shop!!!

Who's intelli moses? Did he make an ark? :-P
Ah bad jokes are truely the spice of life!

I recomend going to "logitech" if you're going to go with another mouse, and don't use the USB connector, just go with the regular PS/2 connection. USB mice give me issues while PS/2 always work for me, plus you don't have to worry about drivers with the PS/2 connection.
(I think it's called PS/2, it's the little mouse connecty hole thingy otherwise.)

Few things:
-My brother had the same problem with the original, and it turned out to be the cable, right at the base of the mouse it was loose.
-PS/2 offers higher report rates, =higher accuracy.
-I highly recommend the Logitech MX 500, or 700 is you truly want/need cordless.

yeh, ive had my mx500 for 1 year now, its a good mouse, ther intelliouse i had before did whjat u described, started messing up and shit, now im a logiteckman fulltime, no more microhardware here

I use an intellipoint optical Microsoft mouse. Really nice. Uses usb :). I have a logitech one also thats the same thing onsept this one has 2 more buttons that are very well placed. So in cs i can have the use key with one thing and the walk with the other :) with really fast mouse clicking :). Ya gota love "Some" things microsoft make.
