I'm bulding a new computer (well buying all the parts and having my locla computer store build it) I used to be adament on the parts i wanted untill i was looking on the site i was getting all the parts from and a new card has appeared in the price range i have for my Graphics card.
The comp i am getting should have a P4 2.8 Ghz CPU, 768 DDR RAM and a 500W PSU. (is that all the factors affecting the choice of GC?)
I was gonna get a ATI Saphire 9800XT 256mb, but a ATI Radeon X800Pro has come for just £18 more which one should i get?

X800 pro, no doubt. 9800xt is a waste of money considering the X800 pro is only a tiny bit more.

get an a64 instead of the 2.8ghz, that gonna limit your x800's gr8 performance

yes get an athlon 64 2800+ for 150 or so instead of the intel 2.8 :D

Im not buying the motherboard, processor and RAM seperately. Im buying them in a bundle where they come pre fitted and tested. The Athlon 64 3000, (which is the lowest Athlon 64 bundle) is £229.13 which is the Athlon 64 3000 CPU, 256 DDR RAM(But im buying more) all installed on a 754 motherboard.

My worry is the Athlon 64 300 CPU speed is listed as 2Ghz compared to the 2.8Ghz the P4 is listed as. the Althlon bundle is £229.13 and the P4 Bundle is £222.07, which comes with the same amount of RAM but on an ATI sapphire mobo.

The clock speed doesn't matter, an Athlon 64 2800+ will beat a 3.0ghz P4. Intel was very misleading in making clock speed seem to be the only factor in speed.

how does this sound for a new computer:

Asus ATI Radeon X800 Pro
AMD Athlon 64 3000 Motherboard bundle
768 Mb DDR RAM
Thermaltake Xaser III V1000 case (Comes with 7 fans built in)
80GB HDD
DVD RW Drive
500W PSU
Windows XP Home Edition
