I am at the bridge where gordon needs to jump car across.
i think i need to teeter the bridge back and forth ,How do i do that ?

thats what i thought but i tried to push them shoot em with a grenade they dont seem to budge.what do i push them with ?

umm...you dont "charge" the gravity gun...

you would know that if you had played HL2, or HL2 EP1 first - so we can assume that either: youve jumped right to EP2 first, or you are the slowest learner ever - so my call of "stupidity" stands: stupid for not being able to work out how a gun like the gravity gun works, and stupid for playing EP2 before HL2 and EP1...

Try left-clicking the mouse rapidly near an object that you can't pick up eg a car.

Left click lets out a mass of energy that pushes objects. Right click grabs an object. If an object is grabbed and you left click, it shoots the object out. Right clicking will set the object down... The end of Black Mesa East in HL2 explains all of this. Ravenholm is your practice stage.

I couldn't agree more, I was slightly insulted when I was told how to do the bare basics in EP2... I mean, I've just destroyed a citadel, killed many many combine soldiers, manipulated hundreds of objects using the Grav gun... And yet it still told me how to "sprint" or click MOUSE2 to pick up an object with the G-Gun.

It's people like you, Jesussmurf, that shouldn't of ever picked up the game to begin with. It's simply too hard for you to figure out which order you're supposed to play the episodes in.

Mouse 1 punts stuff
Mouse 2 picks stuff up, to be punted with Mouse 1 or dropped with Mouse 2.

Neither works with organic objects (with a few exceptions) or things that are a bit too big or heavy. However, in HL2 and HL2: Episode 1 you get to play around with a souped up version of the gravity gun which can do both.

The Gravity Gun only deals damage to headcrabs. Other than those, it cannot grab organic objects till you get the upgraded gun... Only in HL2 and EP1 I believe. You can only punt physics objects.. (Things that aren't impossibly heavy; locked to the ground)

Ok, the 1st reason is plausible. But I mean, you can guess how a gravity gun works. 99.99999% of all guns in all of today's FPSes work by clicking the mouse1 and/or mouse 2. So just some basic 10min experimenting should solve that problem.

The 2nd reason, I genuinely laughed at, no offence or anything. It doesn't matter if they know what the hell is going on or not, but it's logical to think that EP2 follows EP1 which follows the half life 2 game.
I mean, if you put this in the context of books/novels, it'd be the same in saying that you need a small manual telling you to read the book in numerical order so that you don't get confused.

yes we do. its becoz of people like him that valve have to dumb down the start of every game, so that the idiots can play catch-up and learn how to do everything they should already know if they had played the games in order. that ruins the start of every sequel, becoz the first part is so slow teaching noobs what to do. for once, i'd like to see them just say "screw it" and actually start the game assuming you have already played the others (especially when they give you the damn others for FREE) and jump right into the action.

I don't mean to be a dick, but I find it embarrassingly funny that someone who starts a game 2 episodes away, goes onto a public forum and can't figure out how the gravity gun works, despite the developers clearly wanting you to start the game at the beginning of the series.
Don't worry, I don't loose any sleep over this, I just find it stupidly funny. Like running into a glass screen door.

This isn't an issue of dumbing down the start of the episodes. It gives people time to familiarize themselves again with the game mechanics. It educates new players. But more importantly, it allows important exposition and development without having to worry about packs of hunters slaughtering you after two minutes into the game. And I like the pacing.
