With the release of Dark Messiah and Vampire the Masquerade the capabilities of the source engine have been proven. I am well aware of the stigma of total conversions (being that they almost all fade away), but if I get at least half of the positions filled this project will be finished. I know how to code, model, animate, and design levels, but a project like this needs people dedicated to each area. Because of my knowledge I have mostly everything planned out (minus concept art).

And just so you have an idea of what you will be working on I'll give some info on the project.

I am proposing a futuristic role playing game. The scope of it will be massive as compared to other RPGs of the day, let me explain why. Its been noticed that games need a combat system that is easy to master but is complex in nature, this leads to a single combat system that is built upon to give players a feeling of advancement. I think that a game with multiple combat systems will be the next wave of great games. I plan to include combat systems for firearms, complex melee fighting, mecha, and spaceship dog fighting (yes all of this is possible I do have the general build for each system designed). The game will involve active dialogue, animated scenes, and a open ending to the complex story line.

My goal for this project is to get everyone on the team noticed by the game developing community while expanding the conceptions of what a video can be.

Core Positions needed:
Programers (Coders) - Need a very good knowledge of how the Source engine works since the mod will be built from scratch.
Modelers - Need modelers for player models, prop models, and vehicle models.
Texture Artist - While Source offers plenty of futuristic textures, the introduction of many new models will need custom textures.
Concept Artist - I need people with great imaginations willing to help the modelers and create characters' images.
Animators - Need to be able animate everything from weapons and vehicles to scripted scenes.
Level Designers - Need to be able to work with prop modelers and be very imaginative.
SFX Creator - Need futuristic sound effects and weapon sound effects.

Other Positions I would liked:
Music Composer - Dance and techno.
Dialogue Writers - While I have the major plot written out, specific dialogue is not.
Story board Artist - Wanted to help create scripted scenes.

I would like if everyone on the team could put at least 10 hours a week into working on this. I want people to make their own deadlines (so I can see progress). Webpage and server space is bought and paid for but in development.

I am looking for people just as ambitious as I am.

Ambition is second to skill.

A far, far second. Show us something other than ideas. Ideas are intangible.

Are the positions paid? If not, I would then ask why you registered an email account and forum account under the name 'ClockworkStudios'.

It's not uncommon for mod teams to come up with devnames. It's a bit of wishful thinking.

Unfortunately I can't have any of these positions, however if this does tend to work out, I can make very good trailers for the game. I am also very skilled with forums and I'm long time member at other forums and know how to administrate and moderate them. That's all I can contribute if you need me. Otherwise, good luck, you sound to have a lot of ambition. :)

Go back home and make some stuff on your own if you can do all that stuff. Come back with early media and watch as the hordes of team members flock to your team... maybe... if it's it good.

Clockwork, given that you have "mostly everything planned out" minus the concept art, you should be more inclined to give information about what kind of game it really is.

Futuristic games are awesome, but those that have a gritty atmosphere are much more appealing to gamers. It's not The Sims. Given that the future will be a technology orgy where the rich are cybernetic and the poor are starving and most of the world's culture is influenced by China, I'm not sure "dance / techno" music really comes to mind.

The combination of "futuristic role-playing game" with a "scope massive as compared to other RPGs of the day" in conjunction with "dance and techno" music really makes me worry.

[edit] for a second I thought I typed "worny"

Hey man, sounds good. I had planned a futuristic mod of my own but I lack the skills needed to start such a project. If you're willing to put up with a beginner texture artist, I could help you out.

I also have some iideas for storyline, characters, dialogues, vehicles, etc. and have a friend good at concept art that can help us out... If you'd like to see some of my work just let me know, it's mostly GTA mods
