Help with Half-Life 2 Episode Pack (I can't play)

I just recently bought Half-Life 2 Episode Pack brand new and tried to install it. I'm at the Restore backup - Half-Life 2 Episode Pack part right now and it says "Creating local game cache files." Underneath that it says "Preparing Half-Life 2 Episode Two files for install...). The progress bar has been completely full for more than two hours and the window hasn't changed since it filled up. I have AOL (56K connection) and a 1.7 Ghz hp pavilion. Can someone tell me what's going on and/or what I can do, cuz I'm just really pissed off that it's taking this long and all I wanna do is play the two new episodes.:|

Sorry, restore backup? I've never bought retail, is that normal?

I think it's the way that you install off a disc: it's pretty much a backed up content with a fancy installer (the archive files are the same as the steam backup files).
