Help with morrowind

Hey everyone I'm a level 9 orc warrior/adventurer and I am stuck on the main quest on morrowind. I'm on the Telvanni Hortator quest and I have to kill Archmagister Gothren. I really need some help beating this guy because he has 2 bodyguards right next to him. The best I have done after many tries is killing one of his men before I am paralyzed and beat to death. If anyone could help me out that would be great.

This isn't much of a spoiler, just a big tip, but if you are sensitive, don't read it.

I don't remeber that quest, at your level I would do some side quests or just explore ruins and shit, and come back to it, you may find better weapons/armour and higher levels by that time make it easy.
