Help with PSP video

I want to use my PSP to play back videos that I have, like movies and such. Unfortunately, the PSP can only play back MP4 video files. Does anyone know of any good software (free, preferably) that can convert video files to mp4. I would especially like to be able to convert DVDs into this format. Can anyone help?

I don't have a PSP, but browse the DVD directory and extract the .mov file. GameSpy had a good-looking tutorial on PSP Video and ripping DVDs, search there.
