Okay I'm really new to this stuff and am not actually certain whether or not this question makes any sense.

So, backstory. My brother recently bought The Orange Box, and he only plans on playing Team Fortress. I would be more than happy to play Half-Life and Portal on my own computer when he is not playing, but he does not want me to play on the same account as he does, because his friends will think it's him and I'll embarrass him by really sucking in those games. Or something along the lines, I don't really follow his reasoning.

The question is: is it possible to create separate accounts for two different people in the same damn house with the same copy of the game, or do I have to buy my own just because my brother is self-conscious?

Sorry for wasting your time, by the way.

Nah, sorry, it's not possible to share the Orange Box between two accounts.

You'll have to buy your own copy. Or simply ask your brother nicely. You can set Steam friends to be Offline so nobody can see you're online and playing a game. You could ask if he'd let yo do that?

Okay, thanks a lot. :) I tried finding out online but apparently I suck with Googling.

I just needed to know that before starting with the "pretty pretty please".
I told him that he can use me as an excuse for his ****-ups too. "Yeah it was my sister playing."

Haha, well, if you're playing Portal or Half-Life none of his friends will see how bad you're sucking because they're single player games. :)

Good luck getting him to let you play, they're great games! If you can I'd just buy the orange box, 5 great games and you'll get to play Team Fortress 2 which is great multiplayer fun!

Oh. Should've figured that out. Well his excuses make even less sense now.

Thanks. I might buy it too but I think I'll be able to play all those games just as much as I would if I owned it myself. I'll just refuse to help him with English or something. :p

Keep a look out Orange Box offers over Steam, it usually goes pretty cheap. One date to look out for is November 16th, as it will be the 5-year anniversary of Half-Life 2's release.
