Here is how Im getting Half Life 2 early.

I'm glad they are requiring a connection to play the game initially. It will prevent fraud and hackers getting the game and leaking it all over the place at least until they figure a way around it. Good for Valve, almost everybody has an internet connection that will play this game im sure. And if not, im sure they know someobdy who does where they can just log on quick, enter the serial and they are ready to play.

You can use any internet connection to activate the game.

sorry maybe im being dumb (very possible.) so say you get hl2 on the 16th from a shop, load it on your desk top at home (with no net conn) then what do you do. what will it help taking your box with activation code to your mates house to activate you steam account, your pc at home with hl2 on it will still be isolated.....

here's an idea, this weekend, go out to any computer store and buy a $10 or $20 modem. then goto any grocery store and get 1 of those free copies of AOL (you get 45 days free). after 45 days cancel.

They might not get a sue, but they might lose the rights to sell any of their games. That would be cool, buying for thousands of dollars, and then get denied the right to sell any of the copies.

You must not know the value of a dollar if you're willing to spend 50 bucks to get the game a day early and just to let you know you won't be able to play the game until tuesday anyway. So much for those screenshots.

BTW your friend actually would get in a lot of trouble, if your EB was the one that broke the street date and VU decided to do something about it, your friend would be held responsible for the store because he sold it.

People who already have the retail copy have confirmed that it installs into "Comming Soon" and is not playable.

A friend of mine at EB is quitting and therefore selling me half life 2 a day early. (I already own silver so I'm essentially paying 50 dollars to attempt and play it a day early Woo Hoo!) Anyway I'm very curious as Doug has already said if "retail locations sell it early we will activate it early".. My feelings are it probably isnt going to work but If Im playing half life 2 come monday I just wanted to throw that in everyone's face now. HA!
