I think that valve is just testing us in wether or not the public would accept a delay to april. Because valve and vevendi(sp?) are constantly conflicting on this subject, and this is no doubt getting mucho media.

I believe that it would be released b4 christmas in this case. If the reaction of the public is that the feel sorry for them, and that a delay is well worth it, then they will hold off until '04

Now that a working build is out, I believe they will work on getting the game out b4 christmas, as a delay till april would in no way be benifiting them. ie more time for leak to spread, less hype, less attention, more competition. Lets face it, the game wont have the same impact in '04 as it would right now.

This is valve, and hl2's time to shine. They need to light up this christmas tree.

payce!

If it's not out by early November or October, then I'd say Valve is dropping the ball and screwing itself badly.

We've seen it before: John Romero Daikatana, NVIDIA with the GeForce FX, even John Carmack with Doom 3. And don't make me mention Duke Nukem Forever.

"And in the breaking news, industry God Valve software recently announced that in conjunction with a release date change to 'when it's done,' the much-coveted Half-life 2 has been renamed to Half Life Forever."
