(spoilers ahead, ye be warned)
I woke up this morning and found the shortcut to the demo on my desktop. It was like friggin' christmas.

This is some of the most fun I've ever had while playing a game. Every time you go to the main menu, or into town, there's a (skippable) cinematic overview of the whole place. The controls were fairly easy to figure out (mostly from pest experience with other heores games) and I adapted in no time. There was only one scenario immedeatly available (not counting the campaign) and only the inferno town was available (demons, devils, and stuff) but hey, it's a demo. I was reminded of several things at once- Dungeon Siege, Dungeon Keeper, And most importantly of all, Heroes of might and magic 3 which was my favorite of the series. In combat, heroes do not fight like in 4, and the creatures growths are weekly instead of daily (which I HATED). The graphics are great too, for those people who are into graphics... The monsters and their abilities and all are awesome, the animations are great, and as far as I could tell, the music was pretty good too, though not up to par with 4's (which was it's only redeeming quality, as far as I'm concerned).

Amazingly fun, go download the demo now! I can't provide a link, unfortunately, becasue honestly, I don't know where it came from. My dad probably installed it.

Funny. Me and my sister love Heroes 3, hate Heroes 4, but when we tried the demo we really hated it.
The UI was clumsy and lackluster, the towns were definately "wtf". I mean we built something on the tower (Think it was an imp crucible), and couldn't find it for 5 minutes. And even then it took us ages to be able to pan and zoom around the building. I think they should have kept it like a proper town a la H3.

The battles we also didn't like at all. Why did they feel the need for the battling minions to have zoomed in camera shots for an attack that is accomplished in 1/4 of a second. All it does is make the game look like it's spazming, and overall lowers the like.

Overall, I'm sticking with H3.

You could use the buttons down in the bottom right corner to buy creatures and buildings, it's a lot easier.

I forgot about the zooming in during combat, I thought it was kinda useless... zoomed in for mundane attacks, and then not for special ones, and then it DID zoom in for a spell, but not every time....

But see it didn't give me any indication of that being what it was.
Tell me, was there that creature screen that showed every creature you could buy, and had a picture that you could click on to take you directly to that creature spawn?

There was a screen that showed you every creature, then you'd click on it, it'd show you the creature and you could press a buy button, or you could just double click the picture and it would buy as many as you could afford.

It was like that in heroes 3, in the castles.

EDIT: I bet there'll be a tutorial in the full version.

The full version is good and the campaign acts as a tutorial, which works well. All of the creatures are really cool and their special abilities and customization is also neat. It does take a while to get used to the new layout of everything, and the whole 3D thing.

Only FFA hotseat but I think they are working on a patch (or have one out) to fix that. In fact I'm going to go look for one right now.

The camera issue you have is easily fixed. Just go into combat options and uncheck "cinematic camera." Whenever I install H3 I always configure the battle menu to be more helpfull and H5 is no different.
