Heroes of Might and Magic V Demo released

well after oblivion, nothing does ...except Enemy territory

but I enjoyed HoV2 and 3 back in my mac days. I'm just curious as to how the new version plays ..I'l probably download it and never install like I do with a lot of demos
 
I only have time for Enemy territory and Oblivion till at least 2007 :)

might squeeze aftermath in there at some point

anyways, there doesn't seem to be any games that will be released in the near future that I'm excited about.

hmm these type of RPG's will make your girlfriend leave you. Im single, it's safe for me to try it out. I'll let you know tomorrow if it's any good.

These games have a huge fanbase, so I'm sure it's going to be a great game. I think VictimOfScience is a fan, Warbie might be a fan as well.

Tbh, I never even tried M&magic games, There were one or two console M&M games but I never tried them.

The graphics look good. Complex top-down 3D with nice shadowing. Last time I saw a screenshot of a M&M game it was the 8 Bit NES days. Quite a difference.

i used to be a big fan of the Might and Magic games, i've got them back to 3 or so (so 3,4,5,6,7,8, and 9). Might and Magic 6 was always my favorite by far. Didn't get too much into the Heroes games but my dad and brother did.

I'll dl it sometime when i can be arsed to :P though this is kind of a big deal, no starforce in this demo
 
they just recently dropped starforce (Huzzah!) in fact ubisoft dropped starforce all together (big huzzah!)
 
I forget which Might and Magic it was. Many, many years ago. I learned hexidecimal specifically for cheating in Might and Magic. I used a program called PC Tools to view the save game files in hex and I'd change different hex values to give me more money and skill.

that's awesome, are they going to rerelease splinter cell chaos theory? I'd buy it if it didn't have starforce on it.

Never played the Heroes series, but I haven't played a turn based strategy game since Rome Total War. I'll give it a try.

me too, that's why I havent bought it ..not sure if already released games will lose starforce or not
 
I installed Heroes of Might and Magic 4 yesterday, i am a big fan of the 3rd one. The 4th one didnt impress me that much, i just didnt...get the feel, and the music suxxed. Maybe i didnt like it was because i got the Italian verison, i just hate when i buy stuff in foregin countrys were they hate english so they rip it of and burn it in hell and replace it with their idiotic language where you cant pronounce anything. No, im not american...nor english...but i JUST CANT STAND WHEN THEY DONT GIVE YOU AN OPTION OF THE ORIGINAL LANGUAGE!!! 3TIMES I HAVE BEEN RIPT OF!!! FUFKAksG


ehm...sorry about that. Anyway, im looking forward to this one!
 
Hero 3 was awesome! I have the first three and have been a big fan.

The heroes series is great if you can get some friends together and play hotseat. One of the best games to play multiplayer.
 
Never played this series EVER... already downloaded the demo and I'll try it tomorrow morning.

Heroes of Might and Magic 3 was one of my favorite games ever... Heroes 4 I hated. Having to choose between creatures, them not leveling up... The only good thing abotu it imo was that heroes fought. I'm.. cautiously pessimistic about heroes 5. Could somebody recommend it or soemthing? maybe compare it to other games?
 
The 3D get's kind of annoying... They should keep the restricted head-on view. The camera just get's FAR too annoying. But they can still keep the 3D, it's pretty.

As far as actual gameplay, it's great as usual. I didn't get very far because I couldn't play for long. But the environment is really nice, you really feel like your in a magical forest, and then you get into your enemy's territory, and everything is hellish and volcanic, really awesome how it changes. The music was great too. But god help me they'd better still have that one ambient sound effect when you are near a mine! They had it in 3 and 4 and it's basically the best sound ever.
 
Just got the demo, and I have no freaking idea what I'm doing :D

Combat seems fun, just the strategy and building element is lost on me so far...

Did I mention I'm not a follower of the M&M series?
 
Holy crap the first campaign mission is hard. Any tips on stopping the constant wave of attackers? Their gating out numbers the amount of units I have.
 
Haha, whoa. That grew on me fast.

Started to figure out the building stuff and get further into combat and advancing my hero/army and... hey, where'd the past 3 hours go? :o

Man, seriously. Went into the custom map that comes with the demo and got to work with my succubus lady. Built up what I thought was a pretty massive army (I had frickin flames following me in my tracks :D), went around wiping out everything on the map until the only things left were fleeing at the site of me. Then I get cocky and attack the enemy hero in his stronghold and he totally obliterates me :(




Issofun I'ma play again :E

That said, demo really could've used a tutorial level...
