Ad-Aware has always done a very good job for me... what are you using to know of the spyware and why can't it get rid of it?

As for popups... those *are* blockable... the one built in to Firebird is very nice!

Spybot is definitely good, but it's best to use it in conjuction with Ad-Aware.. some catch things the other doesn't.

I won't. I've got all my hype back for HL2 again, but the whole leak and delay just turned me off completely. So I'm back and ready to try another 4 month wait to see if they make THIS eta. Use both, I do.

Initital sweep with AdAware 6 then a deep search with Spybot.

I got a fun spyware on my puter. First of all. I got 2 spy ware remover progs. They find the spyware but they cant delete it. And the spyware prog keeps changing name to avoide my firewall. From B01, b02, b02 and so on. Im on c89 now.

Its fun. I cant delete it myself. Its starting to piss me off. weeeee the fun

If you get Adaware make sure you check each file because sometimes it deletes vital system files, ;( stupid thing , i can honestly say that id rather have Adware on my computer then some stupid adaware deleting my files

hmm... everyone here is suggesting some program.. but.. the first thing to do is probably to check if u have disabled Messenger service.. that assuming u are running XP.. if u are, continue reading.. if u aren't.. then don't bother with the rest of the post.

Start menu > Run >

type services.msc

then scroll down to where u see Messenger and disable that..

i find that Adware and Spybot does not pick it up.. and u continue getting annoying popups (at least i did even with both programs installed)

disable suspicious stuff renable it if it fux up windows

(dont sue me)

also run regedit and delete suspecious entries into local machien

get spybot and adware and run each one of them in a serperate SAFEMODE boot of windows

Ben, it deletes spyware files, and files that 'listen' to ports, sometimes, if they are removed, then you loose your internet connection. It's doing it's job.

Yea, exactly if its job is to stop you getting on the internet dont bother, spyware doesnt really matter in the end does it? it just loses privicy which im not bothered about.

You probly have a trojan on your comp. IF adaware and spybot arent finding anything then its a trojan. If you have AV software run it in safe mode and see if it finds anything. Reformatting is probly the best bet, though.

Another vote for Ad-Aware. It has always worked the best for me, and on the versions people have installed on various school computers, it seems like Spybot requires a purchase to actually REMOVE the adware after it has found it.
