Alright, that's it. **** this. I can't be arsed anymore. Normally I'd post some totally inane and random message and it'd be stupid and unfunny, because Sturgeon's law dictates that 90% of everything is crap (although that's actually what's called Sturgeon's Revelation, but no matter) and thus 90% of the inane random stupid unfunny bullshit I'd leave here would be just that - bullshit. Of course, to an extent, that was the point, since half the reason I did it was to confuse and confound the newbies who came here. If they thought 'damn, what a load of bullshit' or even 'eh?' then they clearly weren't cut out for this site and, in the case of the latter example, perhaps the entire internet. The other half of the reason is because I'm a shameless attention whore; you know that and I know that so it's not like I'm going to deny it. I want people to look, look at MEE! LOOK AT ME! Anyway. 90% is bullshit but where does that leave the other 10%? I'll tell you: it was awesome. But not enough of a proportion. So to hell with it, I'll stop at least for now. I can't guarantee there'll be none of that crap in the future because I think I'm probably addicted and if I actually stop I'll get withdrawal symptoms and yellow puss will ooze out of my eyes and my leg will fall of due to oxy-haemo-revoke-o-titarse or something. This plain and unfiltered confession has nothing to do with the fact that said new member is a girl whatsoever. It's very hard to comment on said feminimity without appearing A. sexist B. sex obsessed C. stupid D: all of the above but I'll try: hi there you're a rare breed. Everyone will just pretend they're crazy and sex-obsessed but then they do that to eachother even when there's girls around so I wouldn't worry (or rather, I WOULD worry. All the damn time. Nowhere is safe). HL2 is, I think, the kind of game that actually attracts a lot of girls as well as boys because of the depth of the story and characters...stereotypically that's what females like best apparently (and most females I know say it's true). Point is, it's nice to see new and different people, especially hawt chicks (whoops, I failed) on this forum. Yeah. So anyway, welcome to the site.

I don't understand the stereotype that girls like different games than guys. Well, I don't like strategy games as much as my brother, I'm more into stupid fps games that have nothing more to offer than mindless violence. I luv it. I don't want to learn a whole story or a manual to be able to play a game! Just give me nice graphics, nice atmosphere, nice big weapons and stupid enemies and I'm a happy girl. Having to follow a story is too much trouble, too much work, and all work and no play makes a really dull Hullu.

Well, in my experience it's true to some extent. Girls I know who are into gaming generally prefer RPGs, adventure games (especially Final Fantasy - which admittedly, everyone has played, so a less 'hardcore' gamer is likely to know it well over other things) and admonish me for being a fan of games which, they claim, are essentially repetetive - shooting people over and over again. "It's just shooting people," is a popular remark. Lots also play WoW. :O

So, a little backstory then. Girlnextdoor is my RL girlfriend who I finally convinced to sign up with good old HL2.net. The types of games she prefers are, as you said, adventure types like Final Fantasy. Although she is not a huge gamer, she does like to watch me play (like HL2 of course). Although, I did just buy her God of War, and hearing her cries of "Watch me tear the wings off this Harpy. **** YES! AAAAAGH!" is rather hot.

i've yet to meet any girl who actively plays the games i play - halflife saga, battlefield 2, deus ex, ut2003, operation flashpoint
the few that i have known have loved rpgs and the Sims - and they are honestly few and far between
the stereotype exists because in this case it is largely true, the few girls on this forum being the exception - and i can name pretty much all of them
bliink, skaadi, shippi, clairelovestlc and bliinxx (we scared her off :E )
the other girls are mainly here because of their boyfriends etc.

well i used to do that - so bloody annoying that they looked down on my hobby like it was as bad as drug abuse - i never play games at home anymore, thank the gods for university
having said that I do not enjoy true violent movies - saying that i do not consider most action movies to be truly violent more action really but i cringed during Sin City and my brother was amazed seeing as I enjoy violent games
a bit strange i guess - maybe alludes to the level of control i have in both tyes of media ~(very Freudian )
and yes hl2net therapy is the best :thumbs:
